Temple Grandin(Drift 2, Week 13)
At the beginning of the film, Temple Grandin enters into the room and makes a self-introduction.Her voice sounds a little bit bold compared with other normal girls.I feel there was something special in her but I don’t know what it is.However, as the film develops I know exactly what this kind of specialne is.Temple has something very innocent in her nature.When she speak, she uses a straight way to expre her feelings and opinions.Unlike most of us, her way of speaking has not been restricted.She doesn’t think too much about how other will people judge her, thus, she dares to speak out what she wants to say.To some extent, she represents the very nature of human beings.When we were very young, young enough that we have not been socialized, we behaved similarly with Temple in some way.But Temple remains this kind of innocence and that is very precious because most of us have lost it.Perhaps it is because I myself have once experienced some mental problems that when I see her struggles and sufferings, I can understand her well(I don’t use the word totally because we are in the different situation).For those people who have never experienced mental struggles they can nerve imagine how pain it is.If you finally tell them about your problems, they think it is not a big deal and they like giving suggestions as if they were the psychiatrist.However, Temple and I are all fortunate, because we finally no longer regard our mental problems as a kind of disaster and we stop doubting and fearing;even if we still carry the effects it brings to us.Temple has a great teacher, Dr.Carlock, to lead her into the beautiful world behind the door, while I have a lot of kind people around me who understand and support me in my hard time.But I still believe the ones who changed our life were actually ourselves.Because we have the spirit of perseverance and a desire to live better, we will conquer the strongest enemy-fear, anxiety.Another thing I want to mention here is Temple’s talent.She thinks in pictures and connects them later.This extraordinary talent helps her to be succeful in her work.Maybe it is just her mental problems that make her think in a different way.She is totally absorbed in her work and she always come up with ideas that are different from others’.So sometime we don’t need to feel pity for our shortcomings, because when God shut up a door, he will open another for you.But if you cry at the door closed, you will never find the door that was left open for you.From Temple I can feel lots of strength, one may not be able to choose their background, but he can choose to live this short and hard life meaningfully.Otherwise, if you don’t make efforts, you are doomed to be defeated by it.So treasure your life and be the master of your own fate, no one is going to save you from the darkne, except yourself.
