Dead Poets Society is a 1989 American drama film written by Tom Schulman, directed by Peter Weir and starring Robin Williams.Set in 1959 at the fictional elite conservative boarding school Welton Academy, it tells the story of an English teacher who inspires his students through his teaching of poetry.The film Dead Poets Society is a film that explores the idea of “Carpe Diem”(seize the day).It’s about an inspirational, unconventional English teacher and his students at “the best prep school in America” and how he challenges them to question conventional views by such techniques as standing on their desks.It is, of course, inevitable that the brilliant teacher will eventually be fired from the school, and when his students stood on their desks to protest his dismial, I was so moved.There are some very depreing scenes, but they are very artful, and teach you of appreciation for those brave members of society that dare stand up for their beliefs.I thought Todd Anderson gave a true life twist to the film, Mr.Keating added an element of excitement, and Neil Perry added paion that leaves you mesmerized.I just saw this film in English cla, but I immediatly fell in love with it, as I know you will.
