Oliver Twist

This book was named by the leading character who is an orphan in the novel. And the author, Charles Dickens, showed us this child’s whole life by the story. The first thing I learned from this novel is as follows: maybe it stated that all men are created equal and are born with the natural right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happine. But we cannot deny that our Oliver was born in a really difficult circumstance.“It is very doubtful whether he would live beyond the first three minutes. He lay on a hard little bed and struggled to start breathing.” As soon as he was born in the workhouse, his mother paed away. And because the poor mother was unmarried and nobody there knew her, our Oliver like thirty other children had to be “looked after” by an experienced old woman who believed a full stomach was very dangerous to children’s health.Secondly, after reading, it is common for readers to conclude that kindne can help one come over all difficulties. The stealing gang used Oliver’s loneline to make friends with him and then forced Oliver to join them.Nancy was a girl in the organization. She was so kind that she told all things she knew about the group members to Mr.Brownlow.Due to Nancy’s kindne, Mr.Brownlow’s help and Oliver’s injury, Oliver could finally survive from the disaster at that time.Thirdly, according to the end of Nancy, I want to remind myself that one cannot be too careful when he or she decides to make a friend.Because of Nancy’s kindne, life in the stealing gang made her feel suffering.Despite her regretting to be chained with Fagin, she realized that “I’ve gone too far to change my life now”.She accused the crime and then was killed by Fagin. But as I’m concerned, maybe death was a good way for her to feel more comfortable. How precious it is!Until her death, she kept her kindne and earnest.Hope she could do a good job and enjoy a better life when she begins her life again.Although Oliver lived in a life full of misery, hunger, and neglect, Mr.Brownlow gave comment like this: “the hardships that Rose and Oliver had once suffered had left no bitterne in their gentle souls, and all their lives they showed the mercy and kindne to others that God himself shows to all things that breathe”.Quote: Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
