Book Review of Wuthering Heights
1.The Introduction of the Author
The author of Wuthering Heights , Emily Bronte(1818.7.30 ~ 1848),was a famous female writer in English history.Her ancestry were the descendants of the Moore and the Celtics, so she was closer to Scotland in emotion.She was Charlotte Bronte's younger sister and Anne Bronte's elder sister.She was born in a poor family in Thornton,and her father was a pastor.Shehad learned knowledge in the boarding school in poor condition.Following with her elder sister, she went to Bruels(in Belgium)to learn French, German and French literature.She was ready to establish schoolsin her future, but unfortunately her dreams did not come true.Emily was introverted and rather gentle.And she was fond of writing poetry since childhood.Wuthering Heights was her only novel and it was published in December,1847.What was interesting, Charlotte's “Jane Eyre”, Emily's Wuthering Heights and their little sister Annie's “Edgar Nice Graham” was published in the same year.In addition, except“Wuthering Heights”, Emily also created 193 poems in total.She was considered to be a genius writer in British.2.The main plot of the story
The article based on the housekeeper Ellen Dean's tone and told us a story.The squire Mr.Shaw,the master of wuthering heights ,returned back with an unidentified child.He named the child Heathcliff.Mr.Shaw
showed much favor to Heathcliff.It caused Mr.Shaw's son Hendler Ray's strong jealousy.After Mr.Shaw died, Hendler Ray avenged the Heathcliff and made him as a slave.He made the persecution to Heathcliff.On the other hand,Catherine was close with Heathcliff and they fell in love with each other.Later, Catherine had to marry the thrush farmstead gentle and quiet young Edgar.And Heathcliff chose to flee away under much sorrows.Three years later, Heathcliff returned back with much weath.After Catherine married Edgar, Catherine was not happy.Heathcliff started crazy revenge.Through the designed gambling ,Heathcliff took Hendler Ray's house and weath.Hendler Ray died for he drunk too much and his son Hareton became a slave.Besides,He also deliberately married Edgar's sister Isabella and made persecution to her.The misery Catherine died in borning baby.Before her death , she hold Heathcliff tightly.Ten years later, Heathcliff made Edgar's daughter little Catherine marry his son Lindon who was going to die.Then Edgar and Lindon both were dead.Heathcliff eventually poeedEdgar's property.Heathcliff succeeded in revenge , but he was stuck with Catherine's death.He did not eat or drink and he died finally.Little Catherine and Hareton inherited the property.Finally they loved each other.They set up family and had a happy life.3.My understanging after reading

that her only novel was a failure.It was not until in 1850 when Wuthering Heights received a second printing with an introduction by Emily's sister Charlotte that it attracted a wide readership.And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back.Today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels of English literature.
