Book report on Jane Eyre
In the history of literature, lots of writers created immortal works on the subject of love.And Jane Eyre, I think, is one of the greatest works among them.The plot of Jane Eyre is both tortuous and attractive.Jane Eyre is an orphan who has a miserable childhood.At the age of ten, she was sent to an orphanage and lived there for 8 years.After that, she came to Thornfield and started to tutor Rochester’s daughter.During that time, Jane and Mr.Rochester, the owner of Thornfield, fell in love with each other.However, Mr.Rochester had a wife with mental disease and in fact, she is his wife just in name.Jane chose to leave.But the power of fate put Jane to Rochester again.When they met again, Rochester was suffering from a big fire, which almost ruined his life.And Jane decided to live with him and never leave again.The most impreive scene for me is when Jane is about to leave Thornfield.Most people who have read this book must remember what she said, “Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulle and heartle? You think wrong!— I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart!And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addrees your spirit;just as if both had paed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are!” Every time I read it, I feel shocked.Many young girls today are so materialistic that they would rather sacrifice their self-dignity and their love.But what Jane needs is not just Rochester’s love but also status and self-dignity.She can’t just be an acceory of him.Some people may think she is stubborn, but how can a girl earn others’ respect if she doesn’t respect herself? If a girl could easily decide to share life with someone, she could also easily be abandoned.True love is always sacred and it could give every one the basic needs like respect.Loyalty is another valuable character of Jane which moves me a lot.After she left Thornfield, a horrible fire disaster almost burned the manor to ground.What’s worse, due to the fire, Mr.Rochester lost one of his arms and was blind.He is not wealthy and handsome any more.However, it was at that time Jane came back to him.Life maybe more hard for them, but they got real happine.There are couples everywhere and there are lots of people who praise love, but how many people could stand the test of hardship and the test of time? Apart from the plot and the character, the words of this book are also beautiful.“Life is too short, can not be used vengeful build hate” is what Jane said to Mr.Rochester.It is simple but wise, and also has sincere feelings.Only those who has taste both sweetne and bitterne of life could wrote such moving sentence.Write true love, make readers think about their life and even criticize themselves.I gue this is the reason why a work could stand the test of time and be valuable for all human beings.
