My teaching and some of my ideas
Good afternoon everybody.I’m very pleased to be here today.I look forward to sharing my ideas and receiving feedback from you all.Now, let me begin.The teaching material from unit 7 part A, primary English Book 10, focuses on traveling, and is the first one of Unit 7.So if the students can learn this information well it will be very helpful for them as they continue with the rest of the unit.With that in mind, my teaching goals are as follows: The first is Knowledge goals:

And the fourth is Strategy goals:
And that is the Teaching aids
I divided my teaching into five sections.Section 1 warming-up
First,students will sing a song about summer vacation.Next I will tell the students that our claroom is now a travel agency, not a claroom.Also, I am now a tour guide for a travel agency, not the teacher, and they are now my
customers.Then I will introduce my international travel route.Hopefully this will help to create a more realistic situation,.Section 2 presentation
First we’ll fly to South Africa.I’ll teach the word-south like this: mouth,–outh-south.After showing the picture of South Africa I’ll ask what they can see, pointing to the wild animals and asking them: Are these animals cute or frightening? I’ll teach the word frightening like this: right….fright….en….ing…..and together: frightening.Then I’ll ask the Ss to tell me what animal they think is frightening? I want to encourage them to make more sentences using the word frightening.I’ll tell them that the wild animals can be frightening, but the black people can be friendly and like dancing.They may even invite us to dance together.So we’ll have a dance.It will be pretty interesting but tiring.interest-interesting, tired-tiring.I’ll have them read the words.The students may feel happy with South Africa but I’ll tell them we must go to the next location, Thailand.Land ,Thailand.Here I will lead them to the golden temple.I’ll let them know there’s a large museum inside.I’ll tell
them that museums are not only interesting but they can learn a lot.Next I will ask the Ss: Is the temple very special or beautiful?(Show the card of beautiful)after visiting the temple,we must be very hungry.so I will ask them if they know what food is famous there? I’ll show a picture of dongying soup.I will explain that the food is very delicious but spicy.(动作)look:de, li, cious.spicy.Who likes spicy food?I want to encourage them to makesentences using ‘spicy’.To move on I’ll inform them that Thailand may be interesting and beautiful but it’s hot in the summer.It’s not very comfortable.So I’ll ask the students if they want to have a cool summer holiday and suggest the third location, Australia.I’ll explain that when it’s hot in Thailand it’s cold in Australia.So, what can we do in Australia? I will show a picture and encourage them to say ‘we can ski’.I want the students to talk about what they think skiing feels like.Teach the word like this: excite-exciting.After that exciting skiing, may be we need more peaceful music.So I will lead them to the Sydney opera house.If they like opera they can go there and enjoy beautiful music.I want to ask them how they might feel.Teach the word comfortable like this:
come,com,…for…not for…table…..,not…comfortable.Next I’ll show a picture of a hotel.Students will be told that they can stay in a nice hotel during their travels.Again I will encourage them to make sentences, now with the phrase ‘stay in a hotel’ and ‘comfortable’.Our wonderful trip will end in Australia.I hope my customers were attracted to the international trip.This section will help teach students proper usage of the new words and teach them a bit about foreign countries’ culture.Section 3 ,review the new words.First, students will read the words together.Second, play a game – named lucky number.I’ll let students choose a lucky number.For example, the student may choose 2.A picture will appear with the word comfortable.The student must make some sentences with ‘comfortable’, such as: the room is comfortable, the sofa is comfortable.This game helps students master the words well.Section 4: listen and read the dialogue.I will present the picture of the two girls from the book and ask about them.Where do you think they want to go? What
can they do? After that we’ll watch the video carefully.Then I’ll have students answer and act the dialogue.This section helps Ss identify the important and difficult points.Section 5: extension
Extension 1
I’ll tell the Ss there are domestic travel routes available with my agency, and thenpay attention to the video.The students will break up into groups of four.Each group will consist of four people.I’ll hand the group leader an investigation form.Like this
The group leader will ask the other three people the following questions.Where do you want to go?
What can you do there?
How is the trip?
Once they fill in the form they can come to the front to report.This section can help the Ss prepare for the next section.Extension 2
In order to encourage them more I’ll let them know that the travel agency carries out a nation wide opinion poll.Any group that can write well will get a free ticket to travel.Using their forms Ss will now make an agenda.Like this:
This section helps with discuion, cooperation, listening skills.and Ss
