TOPIC: To write an email in English, describing school activities TEACHING AIMS AND DEMANDS: 1.Improve reading ability 2.Use verbs and nouns to talk about leisure activities 3.Use English to describe school activities 4.Train writing skill EMPHASIS: Learn something about school life at Beijing Sunshine Secondary School by reading an email DIFFICULTY: Encourage the students to compare Millie’s school with their own TEACHING ALDS: Computer room, Recorder, Slide projector, the paper with some questions, an e-dog, an e-dictionary TEACHING PROCEDURES: 1.Showing an e-dog, ask the students: “Excuse me, but how do you say this in English?” or “What’s this in English?”
2.Showing an e-dictionary, help the students to answer correctly.3.Showing an e-book on the computer screen, encourage them ask and answer like that.4.Then showing an email on the computer screen.Ask and answer in pairs.Then say: Now let’s look at the email on Page 20.It is the same as what you see on your screen.Please listen to the tape recorder and at the same time underline the new words.5.Gue the meaning of the underlined words with the teacher’s help or the help of the computer.6.Read Millie’s email while thinking about the following question:---Does Millie like her school and why? 7.Solve the questions.8.Group work: Divide the cla into 4 groups.Ask each group to scan one paragraph and underline any words they do not know.Students then ask others to help with the underlined words.Then each group leader asks the next group and invites other leaders to explain the words.Provide help where neceary.Time limit: 5 minutes.9.Consolidation: Write the useful expreions on the Bb.Ask the students to copy them in a notebook.10.(Slide projector)Complete the sentences.11.Encourage the students to compare Millie’s school with their own by answering the questions as following on the paper: 12.Group work: Each group writes a short paage about one topic above by joining the answers to the questions together, describing their own activities.Students can work on the computer.13.Choose one paage about each topic, encourage the students to correct the mistakes they made in cla as a whole.This can be done on the screen together with the students.14.Homework: According to the paper with questions talked in cla, send an email in English about your school life to your pen friend or to your English teacher.板书设计：
