First of all, thank you very much, Prof.Liu, for the opportunity you give us.It is a very great pleasure indeed for us to make a conference report on the stage.My name is Jeremy, Chinese name Hebiao, a master student from School of Mechanical Engineering, and our team has five people, two and me in the same academy, the other from School of Transportation.Today, our presentation is “Global Warming”.We will make this presentation from the following aspects.OK, let us take a journey.Venice is a beautiful water city, Venice looks like a dolphin.Maldives, an island country in the Indian Ocean, is famous for its tourism industry.Some beautiful pictures……………………..However, both of the two islands will be covered by water if the global warming continue working or worse after half an century.So, if you want to make a close touch with them, please catch time.Next, my workmates will show some information detailed.Before I explain the term of “Global Warming”, I want to share some pictures to everyone.Right, let's get started.Please direct your attention to the screen.As you can see from a set of photos of “NASA”, during the past century, the Land-Ocean temperature has risen 0.8 degree Celsius，and the sea level has risen 7 inches.More seriously, the index will continue to rise faster.According to the index of global governance, the average global temperature will be 3.5 degree Celsius above normal by the end of the century.In a report, scientists working for the United Nations concluded that sea levels could rise by 8 to 23 inches by the end of this century.To return to the main subject, Global warming is defined as the rise of the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface layer of air as well as the oceans, and extends to the projected continuation of that rise.Now, let's switch to the next photo of” CO2 emiions”which from carbon dioxide Information Analysis Center.As can be seen by the figure, Carbon dioxide emiions increase year by year from the middle of the last century.The current Carbon Dioxide emiion is four times than the emiions fifty years ago.What is the connection of global warming and carbon dioxide? Carbon dioxide is a 'greenhouse gas ', a form of air pollution which causes global warming.Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.The reason about global warming are as follows: 1.The forest resources in factors Around the world, because of natural or man-made factors causing forest area is greatly reduced 2.Acid rain harm factors The effects of acid rain to the ecological environment have become more and more attention all over the world.Acid rain can destroy forest, acidification lakes, endanger biological, etc.At present, the acid rain in the world more concentrated in Europe and North America, most of the acid rain occurred in developed countries,some developing countries, acid rain, also in theoccurrence and development rapidly.3.Toxic waste pollution factors Growing toxic chemicals not only pose a serious threat to human survival, but also to the ecological environment of the earth's surface will lead to harm.4.Water pollution factors According to the global environment monitoring system for water quality monitoring project shows that about 10% of the global monitoring of the pollution of the river, since this century, the human water consumption is dramatically increased, at the same time, water pollution, scale is continually expanding.5.Human activities Since the industrial revolution, human activities widely changed the shape of the earth's surface and the distribution of plants and animals, especially the extensive use of foil fuels and other ways to discharge a large amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.Thanks for listening,this is all for my presentation.As we all know, global warming means not only the temperature of all parts of the world to increase, but harm human’s life as well.There are many aspects of influence.Initially, natural disasters happen more frequent.The maximum wind speeds of the strongest tropical cyclones have increased significantly since 1981, according to research published in Nature this week.And the upward trend, thought to be driven by rising ocean temperatures, is unlikely to stop at any time soon.Furthermore, Scientists predict an increase in sea levels worldwide due to the melting of two maive ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland, especially on the East of the US.However, many nations around the world will experience the effects of rising sea, which could displace millions of people.Additionally, according to research published in Nature, by 2050, rising temperatures could lead to the extinction of more than a million species.Let’s talk about the dangers of global warming in the polar region.Resident animals like polar-bear and penguin will lose their habitats;these small populations are highly vulnerable to extinction.For some species, the fragmented habitats become too small to support a sustainable population.Finally, global warming also caused maive crop failures.“Climate change is expected to have the most severe impact on water supplies” , “Shortages in future are likely to threaten food production, reduce sanitation, hinder economic development and damage ecosystems.It causes more violent swings between floods and droughts.” And so on.What can we do to prevent the situation from deterioration?
So as my teammates said there are lots of dangers about the global warming and the greenhouse effect, what should we do to face these problems? For the government, I think our society should introduce some policies to limit many inappropriate behaviors which will cause the global warming easily.We should be encouraged to take the public transports, instead driving outside, such as taking the bus, metro or BRT when you go out.Clean energy is also a good choice in our daily life, such as the wind energy, hydroelectric energy, instead of the thermal power using foil fuel or gas from the nature, for these fuels causing lots of carbon dioxide after burning, and this is the crime culprit which causes the global warming.For us, we can do a lot to protect the earth.Closing the light after using, which is the easiest thing we can do to slow down the global warming and the greenhouse effect.By using Air-conditioning in a high frequency will also accelerate the proce of the global warming.So we can heighten the temperature when we using it , furthermore the best way is not using it.Remember to save all the things when we use them.Only in these ways, can we have a good effect when we fight for the slowing global warming.That’s all our presentation, thanks for watching and listening.
