PART 1 Good morning everyone, my name is CWP and I’m from Cla One.Today I’m going to talk about hospice care with you.As we all known, everyone is bound to be going old, which like leaves fell down from the tree in Autumn.You will feel painful in the end of life, like losing the ability to eat your own food, breathle, and dying.Unfortunately, may be you will suffer from cancer or other incurable diseases in the last stage of life.There is no doubt that you have two choices to face the unavoidable trouble, one is trying to prolong a painful existence , the other one is choosing a decent quality of life in the last phases of an incurable disease, which is also called hospice care.(In the traditional idea,)Some relatives of the patient prefer to the first choice because they want to expre their love to him or her by begging doctors to try their best to prolong the patient's life, even the chemotherapy(化疗[ˌki:moʊˈθerəpi])will bring some physical, mental, emotional and spiritual pain to the patient, they think it is the best way to help the sick, but in fact, what they want to do is just comfort themselves totally.In some way, it’s not only make the patient even more painful, but also waste the medical resources.In fact, most patients actually don’t need the rescuing doctors and nurses, the cold medical apparatus and instruments.What they really want is to meet with their relatives.After the confirming of the disease for which no cure has been found, perfect life nursing, psychological counseling and pain nursing is better for the patients.So，The objective of hospice care is to help the incurable patients spend the last life with no regret ,no pain, no fear.In our opinion, we agree with the second choice--hospice care.Do you know what is hospice care？

Hospice care is a type of care and philosophy of care that focuses on the palliation of a chronically ill, terminally ill or seriously ill patient’s pain and symptoms, and spiritual needs.Why we prefer the hospice care? There are three reasons.Firstly, it can help patients overcome psychological problems and the spirit of fear, making patient calm to face death.Secondly, it can control pain and symptom.The objective of pain and symptom control is to help the patients to achieve comfort while allowing them to remain in control of their life.This means that side effects are managed to ensure that they are as free of pain and symptoms as poible, yet still alert enough to make important decisions.Thirdly, it can help patients’ family take some fatigue and stre away.In other word, it can give family of spiritual support and encouragement, and help them get through this moment of separation.It’s a good way to remove ineffective treatment which brings huge cost for family and pain of body and mind for patients.How to provide the hospice care?Now I am fortunately to share some ways to you.1.Reduce the patient’s physical and mental symptoms.2.Take treatment following patient’s desire to maintain his dignity.3.Avoid undue trauma treatment.4.Provide the patient and his family plenty of time to get along with each other while the patient can communicate with people.5.Try to give patient the best quality of life.6.Reduce the burden of the family’s medical expenses and tell patient how much the profeional nursing will cost.7.Provide the family for the deceased help for the funeral service.OK, after listening what I have introduced to you, have you learned some further detail about the hospice care? We know the hospice in China is in initial stage, and, what about Guangzhou?
Can you name some hospices in Guangzhou ? OK, now let me share some hospices with you.The following is a list of several hospices which we got in Baidu.1, Kangning Section of Shiqiao hospital in Panyu district.It’s the first hospice institution of the public hospital in Guangzhou, and it hasoffered 2000 person-time between 2008 to 2015,including 800 person-time whole course nursing containing sending them peaceful death.2, Guangzhou old people's Hospital ,the first hospice building in China.It can offer 200 hospice beds ,and mainly take the vegetative and terminal patients over 60 years of age, who suffer from cancer and other seriously disease.3, The Hospice Section of Guangzhou Charity Hospital, which can offer 60 hospice beds for poor patients, established in 2004.4, Terminal Care Section of Guangzhou Friendship Hospital, which can offer 70 hospice beds.Recently, the documentary IN THE WORLD(人世间)is popular around us, the medical students, and we all know that Shanghai is aWorld cla metropolis(世界级大都市)as same asGuangzhou.I think there are some similarities in Guangzhou and Shanghai about hospice care.So,I will also provide you a part of this documentary which relate to hospice care.VIDEO’S TIME
