My paionate sense of social justice and social responsibility has always contrasted oddly with my pronounced lack of need for direct contact with other human beings and human communities.I am truly a 'lone traveler' and have never belonged to my country, my home, my friends, or even my immediate family, with my whole heart;in the face of all these ties, I have never lost a sense of distance and a need for solitude. The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are dimmed. It was the experience of mystery--even if mixed with fear--that engendered religion.A knowledge of the existence of something we cannot penetrate, our perceptions of the profoundest reason and the most radiant beauty, which only in their most primitive forms are acceible to our minds: it is this knowledge and this emotion that constitute true religiosity. In this sense, and only this sense, I am a deeply religious man...I am satisfied with the mystery of life's eternity and with a knowledge, a sense, of the marvelous structure of existence--as well as the humble attempt to understand even a tiny portion of the Reason that manifests itself in nature."

I'm honored to have the chance to speak with you and your family this year.Recently, we learned that our governments, working in concert, have created a system of worldwide ma surveillance, watching everything we do.Great Britain's George Orwell warned us of the danger of this kind of information. The types of collection in the book--microphones and video cameras, TVs that watch us--are nothing compared to what we have available today. We have sensors in our pockets that track us everywhere we go.Think about what this means for the privacy of the average person.A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They'll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves--an unrecorded, unanalyzed thought. And that's a problem, because privacy matters.Privacy is what allows us to determine who we are and who we want to be.The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both in the technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it.Together, we can find a better balance.End ma surveillance. And remind the government that if it really wants to know how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying. For everyone out there listening, thank you, and Merry Christmas.【英文字数:235】

乔布斯——斯坦福大学演讲(节选)I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.The heavine of being succeful was replaced by the lightne of being a beginner again, le sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I gue the patient needed it.Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick.Don't lose faith.I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.If you haven't found it yet, keep looking.Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.So keep looking until you find it.Don't settle.【英文字数:228】
