The Importance of Recycling Good evening, dear teachers and dear friends!Before starting my speech, I would like to ask a question.Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have thehabit of garbage claification? Please raise your hands.Is there anyone who has the habit? Well, only a few people.Ok,goback to our presentation, my topic today is the importance of recycling.Speaking ofrecycling, most of us will agree with its neceity.I don’t thinkthere is any neceity to saythat recycling can save energy, protect the environment and so on, because we all know its meaning.What I want to say is that how much energy we could save if we put the rubbish into right place.According to incomplete statistics, our country consume 4billion plastic fastfood package,and5 hundred millioninstant noodle bowls, accounting for 6% of waste plastic garbage.On average, in our country, an urban resident may cause about 1.5kg of garbage a day.Do you know that？1 ton of waste plastics can be converted into 600 kg of diesel.By recycling 500 tons of waste paper , 400 tons of wood that used for the production of paper can be saved.By melting one ton of cans to form a ton of good aluminum block, we can le mine 20 tons ofaluminum ore.But it is unfortunate that there is no efficient recycling system in our country, and people have little awarene of garbage claification.A lot of people just throw trash without claifying.What a big waste of resources!
In fact, whether in the street or on campus, we always see trash canin pairs.A yellow one and a green one.I believe that everyone understand the meaning of these two signs.Unfortunately, in our country, many people ignore them, few people would really put the rubbish into the correct position.So Ladies and gentlemen，about the question I had asked,quite number of you don’t havethe habit of garbage claification.I hope you can place separately the renewable and non-renewable waste.Besides, I hope you can throw away all the garbage in your house that is of no use to you.And separate them in different boxes, and then take these to your local recycling center.This might be a little trouble and waste of time, but think about it, kitchen waste can be recycled to make livestock feed;hazardous waste recycling prevents pollution on humans and the environment;most of other components of the waste can be recycled.The waste of time compared to these advantages is simply negligible.Recycling is important in today’s world if we want to leave this planet for our future generations.Maybe we don’t have the capacity to deal with these garbage to become useful again, but what each of us can do is to claify the rubbish!Let’sclaify garbage, this is the biggest contribution that we can make for recycling.We should make contributionto conserve resources as we can.
