Good morning Mi Zhao.Good morning, everyone.It’s such a great honor for me to be here.Because this is my first English speech.To begin with, I would like to introduce myself briefly.My name is ***.I am from Henan%&%&.Today, my topic is about Effects of Chemical Technology on Agriculture.I will mainly speak two points.One is that Chemical Technology promotes the development in agriculture, the other is Chemical Technology has bad effects on environment.The first side, its contributions to agriculture.Chemical fertilizer can increase agricultural yields.According to the analysis from Food and Agriculture Organization, nowadays, fifty percent of the factors increasing the grain yield come from fertilizers, while the grain crops production could increase by fifty-five percent to fifty-seven percent with the fertilizers in the developing countries.What’s more, the results from The network of Countries Chemical Fertilizer Test show the production of rice, corn, and cotton can increase by forty to fifty percent with fertilizers;the production of the crops for winter, such as wheat and rape, by fifty to sixty percent.Meanwhile, Chemical fertilizer can improve soil fertility.The functions of fertilizers are more than increasing crops production.After harvesting the previous crop, a great amount of fertilizers are
still in the soil, which can be absorbed by the following crops, this is aftereffect of fertilizers.For rational application of fertilizer, the crops production will increase continuously and the soil will become more and more fertile since that the nutrients of the soil increase.The other side, its adverse effects on ecological environment.First effect, the pollution to water.Too much use of fertilizers pollutes surface water and nitrate in underground water.The survey of water in cities and countries in north of China by Zhang Weili shows that the pollution of underground water and nitrate in drinking water is very serious.In this investigation, the nitrate content in drinking water in more than half of the sixty-nine places exceeded.Second, the effect to global warming.Fertilizing has a significant bearing
on global warming.Because of the increasing use of chemical nitrogenous fertilizer, Agriculture is becoming an important source
of greenhouse gases.From all above, it is clear that chemicalization can increase the output of foodstuff, as well as bring environmental pollution.We should notice not only the benefits it has brought but also the serious problem on environment.Therefore, we should give great impetus to advanced technology, such as balanced fertilization and formulated fertilization.And of course, the most fundamental thing is that the measures of intensive agriculture must be made.Ladies and gentleman, it has been a great pleasure for me to exchange my views on this complex problem with you, thank you!
