Opportunity and Challenge
Honorable judges, ladies and gentleman, good afternoon!
Today it’s my great honor here, standing on the stage, to share my view points on “opportunity and challenge”.First of all: Definitions of the opportunity and challenge.So, what’s an opportunity? Opportunity is a time when a particular situation makes it poible to do or achieve something.It is not accomplish of our goal, it may be just a good begninning;it is not achievement of another seashore, it may be just the fair-weather on the day we set out;it is ont a matter of flowers, applause or succe, it is a great chance which god provides us, helps us to realize our dreams, it is an advantage we won over for our succe, it may be just a platform to show ourselves, maybe just a proper position.But if you are right at a window of an opportunity, “take it, seize it and make good use of it.” I believe in an old saying, “Opportunity knocks but just once”,everyone is longing for an opportunity, but once an opportunity goes by, cause of some objective or subjective reasons, they hesitate, thereby, time flies and opportunity is gone.It is too late when you realize this problem, but the opportunity never returns.So, when an opportunity comes, grab it tightly, and devote all our spirit and efforts to it.God seems to refuse to help too many of His worshipers.Then, what about challenge? Challenge is a new or difficult task which test our ability and skill.It is not just hurdles on the way, it is the spirit of drawing sword;it is a chance to say “I can”, it is a fighter, a sense of courage, the fearle spirit towards all difficulties, it is the untamed spirit resourced from our deep inside.Many people are afraid of challenging or being challenged, worry about change, failure or other factors.But I think as a human, we should welcome challenging and as a man, we should welcome being challenged.We should be challenging, there are so many things arounds us which should be broken, such as the old, the stereotype, research fields and so on.The more challenging the better, the more challenging, the more chances we get to improve our world.Also we should enjoy being challenged.It is a world full of competitions, if you avoid it deliberately, you will fall behind very quickly.If you are challenged, first rule, don’t be frustrated.If you are right, it’s a victory for you and if you are wrong or say not perpect, it’s also an supplementary for you or your knowledge, you have also learned a lot of things.What did you lose!It’s a win-win strategy!Why feel frustrated? So, enjoy being challenged, it’s also a state of mind which make you to improve.Secondly, what’s the relationship between the opportunity and challenge?
It’s obviously that these two themes always come along.No challenge,no opportunity, vice versa.Every Chinese people will never forget that during the 2008 summer Olympic games held in Beijing, eyes all over the world were focused on our country.Hosting the Olympics presents a range of opportunities, of coures, together with many challenges such as environment, international relations, urban development and so on.Another example, along with the opportunity, with the high speed of our country’s financial development, we meet with many challenges, say, severve problems such as inflation recently, high unemployment rate, medical insurance problems, etc.So these two themes always comes along, only by dealing with both of them properly can we develop continiously.All in a word, hold the opportunity tightly, face the challenge bravely and adjust your state of mind, succe is right at the corner!
