I Love My Country Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!I’m Richard.I’m very happy I have an opportunity to attend this competition.My topic is I Love My Country.Two years ago, I had the chance to the United States.This experience really made me open my eyes and mind.In America, I visited lots of interesting places, like White House, the Capital Hill and so on.And I also enjoyed the school education and American life.But later some things happened which made me think a lot.Now please let me share with you.In May, 2009, my former elementary school---Beall Elementary School had an event called International Night.That means on that day families volunteer to show case their countries for the school kids.Because in this school a lot of students are from different parts of the world.That day my family helped me show Chinese culture.My grandmother cooked lots of dumplings and invited Americans to taste them;they enjoyed dumplings and were happy to learn how to make dumplings.My grandfather taught American kids how to write Chinese characters.What about me? I used my brush to paint pictures for the young kids.You know it’s fun to do it.One year later I became a middle school student.I had a course----social study.I still remember unit 3 is about Chinese culture, history, geography and people.During this unit my social study teacher Mrs.Mystal asked me to teach the cla how to write Chinese characters and how to pronounce the words.I was happy to see American kids were interested in Chinese language and culture.At that time I was very proud of my country.So guys, let’s study hard and make a contribution to our country in the future.In all, I hope China will be the No.1 country in the world and more and more people will come here to learn Chinese culture and language.I love you, China!Thank you for listening to my speech and have a good day!
