大量调查显示，公共演讲被很多人当做生活中最害怕的事之一，甚至超过了死亡和疾病。然而，在公众面前成功的演讲并非遥不可及，你需要从了解公共演讲的一些基本要素开始。
在开始演讲前重要的是要知道所发表演讲的类型和听众来听演讲的目的。个人叙事、信息型演讲、说服性演讲和典礼致辞都不尽相同。
1、informative信息型
信息型演讲，具体可分为：流程式演讲和讲解式演讲。流程式演讲主要是一步一步为听众说明完成某件事、制作某样东西或如何操作某物的流程；而讲解式演讲则需要把复杂的题目分解成几段来帮助听众理解该题目。
2、persuasive 说服性
说服性演讲，意在说服听众采纳你倡导的某个想法、信仰或习惯。
3、personal narrative个人叙事
个人叙事，即讲故事。如果有人要你讲关于自己的故事，要分析讲故事的目的是用发生在自己身上的事来总结教训、讲道理、为人鼓舞打气或是单纯娱乐。
4、ceremonial 典礼致辞
典礼致辞，包括从婚礼敬酒到悼词，从毕业演讲到告别演说。这类演讲大多较 短，重点在于娱乐、激励听众，或让听众对某人或物有更多的了解。
