thanksgiving day is the most truly american of the national holidays in the united states and is most closely connected with the earliest history of the country.during their first winter, over half of the settlers died of[1] starvation or epidemics.those who survived began sowing in the first spring.all summer long they waited for the harvests with great anxiety, knowing that their lives and the future existence of the colony depended on the ing harvest.finally the fields produced a yield rich beyond expectations.and therefore it was decided that a day of thanksgiving to the lord be fixed[2].years later, president of the united states proclaimed the fourth thursday of november as thanksgiving day every year.the celebration of thanksgiving day has been observed on that date until today.the pattern of the thanksgiving celebration has never changed through the years.the big family dinner is planned months ahead.on the dinner table, people will find apples, oranges, chestnuts, walnuts and grapes.there will be plum pudding, mince pie, other varieties of food and cranberry juice and squash.the best and most attractive among them are roast turkey and pumpkin pie.they have been the most traditional and favorite food on thanksgiving day throughout the years.everyone agrees the dinner must be built around roast turkey stuffed with a bread dreing[3] to absorb the tasty juices as it roasts.but as cooking varies with families and with the regions where one lives, it is not easy to get a consensus on[4] the precise kind of stuffing for the royal bird.thanksgiving today is, in every sense, a national annual holiday on which americans of all faiths and backgrounds join in to expre their thanks for the year' s bounty and reverently ask for continued[5] bleings.感恩节是美国国定假日中最地道、最美国式的节日，而且它和早期美国历史最为密切相关。

大家好！矫健的苍鹰扇动着双翅，无畏的目光点亮前行的道路。呼吸一口新鲜的空气，让我们一起来飞翔!今天我将给大家带来最真挚的演讲，我演讲的题目是《我爱我家--文明创建从我做起》。

在我人生道路上走过的十年里，我一直认为自己很幸福，妈妈说：“你这么幸福，是因为你生活在幸福年代。南通是纺织之乡，教育之乡，体育之乡……我们要为我们共同的家园—南通文明城市的创建添砖加瓦。”我作为一名小学生，愿尽我所能，为创建文明城市出一份力。

一天早晨，我吃好早饭，佩戴起鲜艳的红领巾，背上书包，高高兴兴地向学校走去。刚下楼梯口，我就闻到一股难闻的味道，仔细一瞧，原来，不远处一个黑色的袋子里装着很多垃圾。我想：什么人这么不讲卫生，竟然将垃圾袋丢在这里，也太懒了吧！现在不正在创建国家文明城市吗？我疾步跑过去，将垃圾袋捡起，扔到垃圾桶里。这时，小区的卫生保洁员正好来了，她夸我是讲卫生的好孩子，整个上午我的心里都甜滋滋的。

还有一次，妈妈准备带我到佳世客书城去看书，我坐在妈妈的电瓶车后面，向佳世客书城方向驶去。走到小石桥路口时，红灯亮了，妈妈停了下来。这时，一位大爷驾驶着三轮车也停在我们的旁边。我用余光稍稍打量了这位大爷，五十多岁，个子不高，车上装着一些蔬菜。忽然，我发现，大爷的三轮车上有一根绳子掉在地上，并且在地上拖出老长的距离。我想，如果绳子绕到车轮上或其它地方，可能发生危险。我赶紧说：“大爷、大爷，您车上的绳子掉了。”大爷愣了一下，朝我看了看，没有吱声。我用手指了指他三轮车的后面。大爷醒悟过来了，赶紧下车，很麻利地将绳子重新绑好。接着，大爷轻轻地拍拍我的肩膀，说：“好孩子，太谢谢你了”。我略带羞涩地笑了笑。这时，绿灯亮了，我和妈妈继续向书城方向驶去。

今后，我将一如既往地加入到创建文明城市的洪流中去，为烟台这个大家庭做一些力所能及的事，成为一个合格的xx小市民。
