Good evening.It is my pleasure to join you at this reception which marks the opening of the third Hong Kong International Toys Festival.Let me start by wishing you all a Happy New Year.晚上好。很荣幸参加为庆祝第三届香港国际玩具展开幕举办的这次酒会。首先祝大家新年快乐！
To all the guests from overseas, may I also wish you a very fruitful and enjoyable stay in Hong Kong.所有来自海外的客人，我也祝愿各位在香港度过非常富有成果和愉快的时光。
Hong Kong is proud of its reputation as the “World's Toy Centre”.Including re-exports, Hong Kong is now the world's second largest toy exporter.More importantly, our toy makers are firmly committed to the highest levels of product quality and safety.Their toy products are renowned also for creativity and affordability.香港以被称作“世界玩具中心”而荣。包括中转业在内，香港现在已成为世界第二大玩具出口地。更重要的是，我们的玩具制造商坚定地致力于保证产品的高质量和安全性，并以创新性和可购性著称。
Over the years, the majority of Hong Kong toy makers have set up production
facilities offshore, mainly in Mainland China.Their Hong Kong office continues with quality control, marketing, finance and accounting, and product design.Notably, toy makers in Hong Kong have remained at the steering wheel, carefully charting the course on how to meet changing challenges, and to make the most of the opportunities that may come their way.这些年来，大部分香港玩具制造商已经设立了离岸生产设施，其中大部分在内地。而其香港办事处继续致力于质量控制、市场营销、财务会计以及产品设计。值得注意的是，香港玩具制造商仍然牢牢把紧方向盘，认真规划如何面对瞬息万变的挑战，充分利用随之而来的机会。
In the past few years, the toy industry has faced unprecedented challenges.Safety standards and regulations in the major export markets were tightened, and the global financial crisis broke out in late 2008.Fortunately, good sailors prove their worth in strong winds.I am pleased to note that the Hong Kong toy industry has started to ride out the storm.过去几年里，玩具业遭遇到前所未有的挑战。主要出口市场收紧安全标准和规则，全球金融危机又在2008年末爆发。庆幸的是，真金不怕火炼。我们很高兴地看到目前香港玩具业已开始度过时艰。
Looking ahead, there are ample opportunities for our industrialists and entrepreneurs, particularly in Mainland China.About a year ago, the Central People's Government unveiled its plan to establish the Pearl River Delta as one of the most competitive regions in the world by 2020.This framework supports greater co-operation among Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong to maximise their combined strengths and complement each other in developing a premier busine hub.展望未来，摆在我们工业家和企业家面前的会是大量的商机，对于内地尤为如此。大约一年前，中央政府公布了到2010年将把珠三角地区建设成最有竞争力的地区之一的计划。该框架支持促进香港，澳门和广东省加强合作，充分发挥其综合实力和优势互补，发展一流商业中心。
To grasp these opportunities, industry players need to innovate and upgrade continuously.The Hong Kong Government is sparing no effort in creating an environment that is conducive to busine development.For example, the Trade and Industry Department has in place various funding
schemes to facilitate companies, particularly SMEs, in obtaining
commercial loans, expanding busine through export promotion activities, and enhancing their overall competitivene.The Government has also launched other support measures to promote design and creativity in Hong Kong industries, including the toy industry.为了抓住这些机会，业内人士需要不断创新和升级产品。香港政府正不遗余力地创造一个有助于商业发展的环境。例如，工业贸易署已经制定了各种资助计划以帮助公司，特别是中小企业获得商业贷款，通过促进出口措施扩大业务范围，增强综合竞争力。政府也出台了其他扶持措施来提升香港工业的设计和创新，其中也包括玩具业。
The Hong Kong International Toys Festival is held in conjunction with the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair.I would like to commend the excellent efforts of the Hong Kong Toys Council, the Toys Manufacturers' Aociation of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in bringing these important events to fruition.I wish the events every succe.Thank you.香港国际玩具节是与香港玩具游戏展相结合举办的。我要对香港玩具协会、香港玩具厂商会和香港贸易发展局为此做出的杰出工作表示感谢。祝愿活动取得圆满成功！谢谢各位！
