computer, network computer, personal computer and embedded computer.One we used frequently is personal computer.Ordinary computer, such as desktop computer, consist of monitor, mainframe, mouse, crunching, video editing, online shopping, e-learning, etc.Application software is a set of computer programmers that helps a person carry out a task.Word proceing software, for example, helps people create edit and print documents.Personal finance software helps people keep track of their money and investments.This term, we focused on learning document production software basics as well as spreadsheet software basics, which will be used more often in future life.However, what let me gained a sense of accomplishment is learning the basic operating of movie maker by myself and giving a 5-minute-lecture to teach my clamates how to use it.Movie maker, as the name suggests, is one kind of video editing software, which helps people import a series of video clip from a camera or other which is installed on the screen-based desktop.Each work area window can display a different document or program, providing a visual model if the operating system’s multitasking capabilities.Although, an operating system does not directly help people perform application-specific tasks, people do interact with the operating system for certain operational and storage task, such as starting programs and locating data files.Many computers has been installed some basic software before selling, but in the end, the majority of users are still want to install additional software.So it is neceary for us to know the basics of installing software and upgrades.The first way is installing local applications from CDs and DVDs, it will cost you some money, but generally, it’s safe.If people want to install some free software, there is another way that they always choose: install from internet.Although, it is convenient to find kinds of useful software, it causes easy chance for virus to attack people’s computers by hidden in the installation package which have been downloaded.So before you install the software, you should not only figure out if the software and your computer are compatible, but also watch out if it is security.You can update software regularly according to your needs in the similar way as you install the original version.With the operating systems, such as DOS, you can remove software simply by deleting its files to uninstall usele software.Other operating systems, like Windows and Mac OS, include an uninstall routine, which deletes the software’s files from various folders on your computer’s hard disk.Hard disk is one kind of the external storage that also includes floppy disk, CDs, etc.External storage used to store information which does not need to use immediately.If neceary, it will exchange data with main memory.It exists as the main storage’s backup and supplement.It has large capacity but costs low, usually can still save the information after computer is turned off.Certainly, internal storage is mainly used to temporarily store the instructions and data that are being used by CPU.The relationship of internal and CPU is the strongest.Due to its store programs and data needs to be used immediately, so it is required high speed of acce.RAM and ROM all belong to internal storage.RAM is a temporary holding area for data, application program instructions and the operating system.It doesn’t damage the contents of the original storage when it is been read, while it can modify the original storage when it is told information.Information will lose due to power outages ROM, is a type of memory circuitry that holds the computer’s startup routine and it’s housed in a single integrated circuit-usually a fairly large, caterpillar-like PID
