The book we read named Eugenie Grandet which describes the family life of the miser Grandet, through his greed and stingy, exposing inhuman relationship and other tragedies caused by money.During the French Revolution, the rich miser Grandet is very selfish cold, in order to save money, he does not buy vegetables and meat throughout the year and repair broken stairs.Despite the happine of his daughter, he makes Eugenie as bait to lure those men who want to marry his daughter, in which he can get some profit.On the contrary, Eugenie, a gentle and kind girl, for keeping her true love to against his father's strict cont.After finding Eugenie gives her money to her cousin Charlie who is bankrupt and abject, he becomes furious, angry so that he takes her into custody where is no fire to get warmth in winter but the cold water and hard bread, which terrify his wife and make her ill.In 1827, the miser Grandet died , leaving a legacy of 18 million francs, so, Eugenie becomes a local richest women,which makes everyone ask her to marry him, but she wants to wait for Charlie.However, she is abandoned by Charles, because Charlie is going to worship wealthy marriage.After getting Charlie Ungrateful news, Eugenie promised the courtship of Punta Mr.Wind angrily.She is very generous, not only to help Charlie's father to pay back his debt, also to donate a lot of money to the church and school.Charles is very sorry when he knows Eugenie owns much money.At the age of 33, Eugenie becomes a widow, and people begin to pursue the wealthy widow again.Obviously, Grandet is rich, but he is very mean, even to his wife and daughter.Why he is so mean?
