About Cheryl Cole and her music

By Bridget

Cheryl Cole is a beautiful singer from UK, and she is still a member of her band, Girls Aloud, but obviously she is more famous than the other members of the band. That’s because of the effort that she made to perfect herself., and she did sang very well. Her voice is strong and full of sadne, and that is so attract. The followings are some material of her.The first short eay is an abstract of her biography from an external website, and the others are something about her albums and songs.I just gather them in this Word to let the friends who interest in English songs especially the music of Europe and America to scan it.This is my first work.Hope you like it.This is the beautiful Cheryl Cole.CHERYL COLE BIOGRAPHY Cheryl Cole(born Cheryl Ann Tweedy)was a dancer and model prior to becoming a member of the record-breaking European pop group Girls Aloud. As a youngster, she won several modeling competitions and appeared in commercials, but she made her biggest leap in 2002, when she auditioned for Popstars: The Rivals and was selected to join Girls Aloud, a group that went on to release 19 Top Ten U.K.singles within a matter of a few years. In 2009, Girls Aloud announced a yearlong hiatus, and Cole, who had become one of her country’s highest-profile celebrities(she was also a judge on another British singing competition, X Factor, and helped the show swell its weekly audience to 14 million viewers), took advantage of the down time to record her first solo album. The surprisingly conservative 3 Words appeared in October 2009, featuring collaborations with will.i.am, Soulshock & Karlin, and Syience.Led by the Wayne Wilkins-produced ―Fight for This Love,‖ a number one hit and the fastest-selling British hit of 2009, the album went platinum in two weeks.Cole's second album, Mey Little Raindrops, followed in November 2010.Several tracks were produced by Wilkins, while will.i.am, J.R.Rotem, and Free School were involved in smaller capacities.*** by Andy Kellman, All Music *** The followings are something about her albums. Her first album is 3 Words. This is the cover of her album, 3 Words.CHERYL COLE “3 WORDS” ALBUMWords is the debut studio album from British pop singer Cheryl Cole released on 23 October 2009 by Fascination Records. The project is Cole's first solo release following a break from releasing material with her band Girls Aloud whom after seven years have enjoyed five succeful albums and twenty consecutive top-ten singles. Background and conception

Cole's first foray into a solo music career occurred when she featured on will.i.am's “Heartbreaker”.After taking streetdancing claes during the filming of Paions of Girls Aloud series, Cole was picked to appear in the song's music video. She was later asked to sing the female vocals on the UK release of the track.Cole's version is featured on her album as it wasn't featured on will.i.am's album Songs About Girls. It was confirmed on 27 April 2009 via MTV UK that Cole would be working on solo material.Cole reunited with will.i.am, and also worked with Syience, Taio Cruz, and Wayne Wilkins.Cruz was asked to write two songs for Cole;the first of which, “Break Your Heart”, was written especially for Cole but Polydor label bo Ferdy Unger-Hamilton felt the song was too similar to Heartbreaker, the track Cole did with Will.i.am.Cruz reclaimed the song and released it as the lead single from his second album Rokstarr. The song went on to be number 1 on the UK Singles Chart. The other song, “Stand Up”, did make the album.Album title and packaging

When asked about the album's title, Cole revealed she had already contemplated an album title which contained the phrase 3 Words before the title track was recorded. She had considered titles like Three Syllables, although the strongest contender was Unveiled as Cole “felt like she didn't have any protection without the girls [Girls Aloud]” and because it coincided with the veil on the album cover. The album's cover was photographed by fashion photographer Nick Knight.Knight said, “although she is photographed all the time by the paparazzi, she is not in front of the camera for a shoot in the same way as profeional models areit is just a different kind of shoot with a model who is experienced.”

Album content

The album begins with its title track, a duet with will.i.am and Cole's favourite song on the album. She said the song was “totally different from anything I've done [with Girls Aloud] or liked before” and took its inspiration from Cole's newly acquired love for dance music on the charts, especially David Guetta & Kelly Rowland's “When Love Takes Over”.“Parachute”, written by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and Marshall Altman with production from Syience, was described by Cole as “left-of-field” and “unique”.She cited “you are your own worst enemy, you'll never win the fight” as her favourite lyric from the album.Cole also noted that it was a contender for the album's lead single.“Heaven”, another will.i.am production, was the first song to be co-written and recorded by Cole for 3 Words and for that reason holds “a special meaning” to Cole.It contains a sample of “Is You” by D.I.M., written by Andreas Meid.Cole revealed that the lead single, “Fight for This Love”, came to her in demo form with a male vocalist.Cole said she “knew instantly it was a single”, having “connected with the song so well”.“Rain on Me”, co-written by prolific American songwriters Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello, was one of the last songs to be recorded for 3 Words.Cole recorded the song in Los Angeles and said the proce was “emotional” as the album's recording was coming to an end.“Make Me Cry” was the first song that Cole recorded with will.i.am in Los Angeles.Cole wrote verses around will.i.am's hook, which was inspired by his girlfriend.Cole said that she listened to the demo of “Happy Hour”, initially titled “Sweet and Sour”, on repeat because she enjoyed the song so much. She further noted that the song, produced by Soulshock & Karlin, had a “60s sound” and was “one of those tracks that you either really love or you don't get it.” It interpolates elements of Renaldo Domino's “Nevermore”, written by Richard Pegue.“Stand Up” was written and produced by Taio Cruz and Fraser T.Smith.Smith claims that during one day he and Cruz wrote the rejected “Break Your Heart” in the morning and “Stand Up” in the afternoon.Cruz described the song as an “absolute club banger”.The song features an uncredited rap by Cruz, which was originally not present.Cole said it was “one of those instant tracks that make you feel good.” “Don't Talk About This Love” was written by songwriter / producer Chris Braide and Nikola Bedingfield, the younger sister of singers Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield. It was originally recorded by Nikola Bedingfield as the title track for her debut EP.Cole was attracted to the song for its lyrics and vibe, saying it “felt right.” “Boy Like You”, featuring and produced by will.i.am, samples Fleetwood Mac's 1987 single “Little Lies”, which initially attracted Cole to the song.Cole wanted to take the Fleetwood Mac sample and create something current and modern with it.The album also features the clean single version of will.i.am's “Heartbreaker”, to which Cole provides the female vocals.Release and promotion 3 Words was released in the United Kingdom on Monday 26 October 2009.A limited edition fan version of the album was released through Cole's official website. The deluxe version includes a tote bag, a Cheryl Cole calendar and two exclusive art prints, all contained in a deluxe box.In May and June 2010, Cole toured as support for the Black Eyed Peas on the European leg of The E.N.D.World Tour. She performed Fight for this Love, Boy Like You, Make Me Cry, Parachute, Fireflies, 3 Words, Rain on Me and Stand Up.Will.I.Am has joined her on several occasions to sing 3 words. She is also scheduled to make her first solo appearances at this year's V Festival, Radio 1's Big Weekend and Summertime Ball. The album debuted at number one in the UK with sales of 125,271.It then held on to that position for another week, just like her single “Fight for This Love”.On 6 November 2009 the British Phonographic Industry(BPI)certified the album Platinum, and has since sold over 750,000 copies.“3 WORDS” ALBUM REVIEWS

Seven years after Girls Aloud broke out on the scene, Cheryl Cole emerged as its breakout star, the beauty who stood above the rest.Cole's captivating charm made her the perfect pop star, and her better-than-most's voice never slowed her down.In the last quarter of the 2000s, she found her own succe away from her multi-platinum roots by becoming the fourth judge on the monstrously succeful U.K.television program The X-Factor.Cole's role as a judge and mentor to contestants made her even more of a celebrity than she already was — quite a feat — and helped Cole gain the courage to release her first solo studio album since she entered the music busine. Her talents were, and still are, geared towards mainstream pop, however, unlike the contestants she mentors on the X-Factor, Cole is not a budding star;she's a dignified celebrity starting a new chapter in her music career;and though she was 26 years old upon the release of her first solo effort, 3 Words, she has the maturity of a true music veteran. All to say, her first album couldn't rely on gimmicks or empty beats like many early debuts;it also couldn't have the no-care pop attitude that her early Girls Aloud albums did, or their contemporary counterparts, the Saturdays. Therefore, she teamed up with an established hitmaker, will.i.am, famous for his work with the Black Eyed Peas, and with him Cole has strung together a solid collection of sparkily pop hits that seem to be stuck in between vibrance and polish;in other words, they don't feel too old and stuffy, but they are a bit stale in large part.Cole does have some smash singles here;lead single “Fight for This Love” is a terrific midtempo number with a heck of a chorus, and its follow-up, “Parachute,” shines for its undeniable catchine and lethal drum line.Still, the rest of the album, especially the four songs that feature will.i.am — too much for any one person to be featured on one album, unle you are Justin Timberlake and Timbaland — seem uninspiring, especially for a superstar like Cole, who has all of the globe waiting for her to deliver a monster smash.Numbers like “Stand Up” seem to briefly tease the listener with Cole's potential to rule the European dance charts on her own, but this muddy first effort doesn't suggest that that moment is right now.Cole should work harder on her next album to find a more dynamic sound, which may be difficult since she is past her Girls Aloud sound, but she's also not the kind of artist who would soar on a collection of ballads like X-Factor's Leona Lewis or Cole's own famous X-Factor prodigy, Alexandra Burke.*** by Matthew Chisling, All Music Guide *** The Daily Telegraph described the album as a “selection of sexy but underwhelming R'n'B pop”, noting that was “not a hint of the bubbly personality that has won over X Factor viewers” or “the electro-guitar fusion that put Girls Aloud on top”.Financial Times also called it a “dismayingly boring solo album, [...] swapping Girls Aloud's sparkly pop for thin R&B-flavoured songs with dreary beats and characterle singing.”

Pete Paphides of The Times agreed that Cole's personality is “absent from mid-paced fillers” and exclaimed that “even when 3 Words gives you something to admire, the emotional temperature rarely nudges above frosty.”

The Independent further stated the album was “utterly bereft of imagination and risk, with tried and tested R&B producers [...] doing what they do as dispaionately as poible.”

The Guardian gave the album three stars out of five but felt it was “ultimately too tentative and slight to be more than a footnote in Cheryl Cole's unstoppable celebrity story.”

Tom Ewing argues, “Parts of this album never pa beyond conservative pleasantries. But the shift in sound was still neceary.” The review further described 3 Words as “a low-key, shadowy kind of pop record, whose best songs rarely take immediate hold.”

Digital Spy said the album was “not a bad record, but nor is it a modern pop claic to rival the best Girls Aloud albums [...] it's a collection of cool, contemporary pop-R&B tunes that takes a few plays to reveal its charms.”

BBC Music reviewed the album a mixed review saying it “does exceed peimistic predictions”.Kim Dawson of Daily Star felt the album was “another victory” for Cole, arguing that “the simple 90s R&B/pop collecton has the same charm as her huge Geordie smile.”

Pierre Oitmann of Dutch news site Nu.nl pointed out “the album is mostly being characterized by strong A&R management;i.e.thoroughly sought together songs and consistent production values”, before concluding “Cheryl Cole's role is reduced almost entirely to 'hot chick' on the cover”.And this is the cover of her digital EP.CHERYL COLE “3 WORDSRelease date : April 2010The B-Sides EP, was released online on April 18, 2010 from Fascination Records. This is the cover of her second album, Mey Little Raindrops. There are many songs that I prefer in this album.CHERYL COLE ”MESSY LITTLE RAINDROPS“ ALBUM

Mey Little Raindrops is the second studio album by British recording artist Cheryl Cole, released on 1 November 2010 by Fascination Records. The album is the follow up to Cole's multiplatinum debut 3 Words(2009)and comes in the aftermath of Cole's divorce from footballer Ashley Cole and her life-threatening battle with malaria.Cole started recording seions for her second album in February 2010.Recording continued in Los Angeles while Cole was recuperating from malaria.Cole described the album as ”more exciting, very personal, very me,“ combining pop, R&B, and dance sounds. The album was largely produced by Wayne Wilkins, who previously produced Cole's number one debut solo single ”Fight for This Love“ and the album track ”Rain on Me“.Cole also reunited with will.i.am, who was the executive producer of 3 Words.American producer J.R.Rotem contributed ”Better to Lie“, while Cole worked with British electronic musician Starsmith, Al Shux, and Free School for the first time.Mey Little Raindrops features guest vocals from August Rigo, Dizzee Rascal, Travie McCoy, and will.i.am.The album's title is taken from a lyric in the song ”Raindrops.“ Cole said, ”when it rains, everything, she's washed [...] it feels hopeful.“

”Promise This“, the album's lead single, serves as the opening track.Produced by Wayne Wilkins, it has been described as an ”upbeat, pop track“ with ”more of a dance feel than previous releases.“ The song ”finds her contemplating mortality with a cheerful morbidity, asking for prayers over a brutal march beat.“ Tabloids suggested that the lyrics were based upon her divorce from footballer Ashley Cole, and how her dancer friend Derek Hough nursed her to health while she was suffering from malaria. The song is followed by ”Yeah Yeah“, which was produced by Starsmith and features a rap from Travie McCoy.It was called ”a big-sounding, house-influenced track.“ It has received comparisons to Madonna's Confeions on a Dancefloor era.”Live Tonight“, produced by will.i.am, ”shuns dance and nods to U2 and Queen.“ It includes a ”Beach Boys-go-native breakdown completing the tug on the collective houseinflected heartstrings“ and ”a bliful synth line.“ The album's fourth track and second single, ”The Flood“, was described by X magazine as an ”enormo-ballad“ and ”a maive, strong-laden, Christmasy tear-jerker about 'wreckage', 'drowning' and 'natural disaster love.'“ The Wilkins-produced number is a ”trip-hop ballad, with strong hooks and synthesised strings.“

”Amnesia“ was initially rumoured to be a Britney Spears cover;however, it is an original track produced by Wilkins and Steve Kipner. It was called a ”jittery electro tack with an Oriental feel.“ ”Everyone,“ also produced by Wilkins, features guest vocals from British rapper Dizzee Rascal and offers ”serious soulful uplift.“ ”Raindrops“ is a ballad produced by Free School in which ”guitars chime and jangle as Cheryl looks forlornly for love.“ ”Hummingbird“ was co-written and produced by Al Shux.”Better to Lie“ was produced by J.R.Rotem and features guest vocals from August Rigo.”Let's Get Down,“ produced by and featuring will.i.am, is ”another fast and furious dance number“ with an ”Eighties-style electronic rhythm.“ It was called ”a celebratory jam aimed firmly at Friday night“ and ”a Freeze-sampling electro-stomper that makes the Geordie la sound almost New York cool.“ ”Happy Tears“ is ”acoustic-based pop,“ which tabloids have suggested references Cheryl Cole's divorce from Ashley Cole.It was produced by Wilkins. The album's closing track ”Waiting“ is a ”disco track that samples the piano from Vanea Carlton's A Thousand Miles.“ It was co-written by American singer Kelis and produced by Free School.”MESSY LITTLE RAINDROPS“ ALBUM REVIEWS

Cheryl Cole, capitalising on public goodwill, here delivers her second album with the paint still wet on her debut of last year, 3 Words. It is also a pre-emptive strike, as Girls Aloud’s main vocal force, Nadine Coyle, is poised to deliver her first solo album next month.Cole is clearly aware of the natural lifespan of pop records, although creditably this album does not feel rushed. It is a consummate demonstration of savvy collaborations, appealing to both the playground and the school run.The metaphorical Mey Little Raindrops of the title probably relate to her personal life, because all these songs will unavoidably be interpreted through her recent divorce from a footballer.Mind you, the tracklisting also reads like a series of luxury Thailand resorts: Hummingbird, Raindrops, Happy Tears. And it features a cover on which Cole appears to have arrived by travelling sideways, while sitting down.Bizarre.In the past, singers like Dusty Springfield brought their unique voice to other peoples’ songs – while not in the same league, Cole certainly brings enthusiasm to the table.Occasionally she is at the mercy of these songwriters.Despite its commercial succe, recent single This Promise is a mere shadow of Girls Aloud’s The Promise. But the album improves with the Madonna(Hung Up period)RnB/rave of Yeah Yeah and the bliful synth line of Live Tonight. On the anthemic Everyone, Cheryl shares her valuable insight that ”sometimes life’s unfair“, with Dizzee Rascal contributing his own thoughts on their mutual rise from the streets.Meanwhile, it is Happy Tears(”our love is dead, but I’m alive“)and Better to Lie which shed the most light upon her recent relationship troubles via a familiar world of mobile phones, club VIP areas and slashing your ex’s car tyres. She loses focus with The Flood, stretching a shipwreck analogy over an uncomfortable four minutes, but before things get too upsetting, will.i.am uplifts things with Let’s Get Down, a celebratory jam aimed firmly at Friday night. It’s as air-brushed as expected, but Mey Little Raindrops is a competent and frequently enjoyable pop album. It will doubtlely repeat her debut’s performance, and earn her a second number one album.*** by Tom Hocknell, BBC Music ***

Despite her often looking teary-eyed on X-Factor, Cheryl Cole’s second solo album, from the title onwards, is a study in emotional obliquene.Instead of a post-divorce wallow, the Girls Aloud singer channels her feisty, urban-prince side.Dizzee Rascal lends a hand but it’s Will-i-Am who pulls the songwriting rabbit out of the hat with a Freeze-sampling electro-stomper that makes the Geordie la sound almost New York cool.*** by Bernadette McNulty, The Telegraph ***

Coming from a member of one of the most forward-looking pop acts of the 21st century, Mey Little Raindrops feels curiously dated. It's one thing for Cheryl Cole to honour fashion's ludicrous obseion with the bad-taste 1980s on the sleeve, but several songs might as well have been recorded in that decade, too.Which isn't to say that Raindrops, The Flood or Hummingbird sound retro-hip;instead they are musically perfunctory, their lacklustre quality exacerbated by Cole's weakne as a balladeer and her(understandable)difficulty injecting feeling into a love song.Still, in opening tracks Promise This and Yeah Yeah she has a couple of fantastic, indelible hits. And Cole is on surer ground addreing cheating men, although it's hard to know what satisfaction she finds in the vapid lyrics to Happy Tears: ”I cut off my hair and I painted my toes, I sold all the diamonds and burnt all your clothes.“
