SEFC Book2A Unit 9 integrating skills-voices of the Earth Summit

Part 1: My understanding of this leon First is about the analysis of the teaching material.It plays a very important part in the English teaching of this Unit.By studying this leon, Ss can improve their reading and speaking ability, learn more about our Earth.At the same time, I should get the Ss to understand some difficulties words and sentences.The students should do some listening , speaking and writing, too.Of course, the Ss should receive some moral education.Teaching Aim: Learn and master the following words: defend, incorrect, affect, advise Ability aim: Train the Ss listening and speaking abilities;Learn to write an evaluation paragraph Moral aim: Make the Ss love our Earth and do something to stop it being polluted and protect our Earth.Teaching Important Points: 1.Master the useful words and phrases appearing in this period.2.Learn to support an opinion both in speaking and writing.Teaching Difficult Point: How to help the Ss finish each task and improve their skills to use language.Part 3: Teaching methods and aids Teaching Methods : 1.Question and answer activity method to train the students' speaking ability.2.Read and listen method to get the main idea of the whole paage.3.Individual, pair or group work method to make every student work in cla.Teaching Aids: 1.a tape recorder 2.the blackboard 3.multimedia

Part 3: Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warming up & Lead in We have read a paage in this unit about the Earth Summit and environmental problems and solutions.In this activity, Ss are required to look at the title or subtitle and gue what they will read.Task 1: By using Brain-storming method, encourage Ss to expre their opinions about the title.Task 2: Report the ways to stop pollution in cla.We know the Earth Summit mainly talks about environment problems and solutions.Experts from all over the world are welcome to the Earth Summit, speaking about different topics and discuing new ways to solve old problems.Then teacher bring in new subject: the voices of the Earth Summit.Step 2 Listening 1.Listen to the speeches from the Earth Summit and complete the outlines on the book.2.Pair work: Retell the speeches at the Earth Summit.Step 3 Practice 1.Discuion

Topic: Do you agree with what they are saying at the Earth Summit? Have Ss write down the thoughts, comments, opinions and questions.By discuion, to arouse Ss’ interest to concern our Earth and protect our Earth.Of course, The teacher should input moral education during analyzing Ss’ discuion result.2.Outline

Write an outline for your speech and then give the speech in cla.The purpose is to train Ss’ speaking ability.In this part, Ss can learn from each other by listening other’s views.The purpose is to cultivate Ss’ learn other’s strengths in their studies.Step 4 Writing English weekly writing.1.Study the words and phrases may help you(See P72).2.Go over Tips for preparing a speech.The following phrases can be used.The teacher should guide Ss to use these phrase when they write an article.The purpose is to cultivate Ss’ writing ability. Make sure you know how to give a good speech. Think about your audience.Who are they? What are they interested in? What do they want to know? What do they already know?  Prepare and practice. Research the topic carefully and organize the material. Practise in front of a mirror or together a friend.3.Prepare a speech.The teacher can guide Ss to talk about speech.In order to arouse Ss interests, the teacher can give Ss an example.Then Ss can learn it and prepare a speech after cla.Step 5 consolidation In this step, The teacher can lead Ss to recall what they have been learned in this cla.And remind the Ss to do more exercises to consolidate their knowledge after cla.Step 6 question time and homework The teacher can leave 5 minutes for the Ss to ask questions and deal with their confusion.It’s a chance for them to study autonomously.The homework is to write an article about protect our Earth or love our Earth.I want to improve the ability of their writing.At the same time, train the ability of do-it-yourself and looking up the information by themselves.The purpose is to cultivate Ss’ study independently.Part4 Blackboard design Unit 9 Integrating Skills Voices of the Earth Summit Key words/sentences …….t.Discuion ……..In my opinion, the blackboard design can reflect the teacher’s ability of mastering the text and leading the Ss to master the text easily.SO in the text, I write the key words and sentences on the blackboard in order to tell the students that this is important points in this cla.I want to make the design instructive.
