I have always thought, “Years from now, if I have no regrets when I look back on the life I have lived, my life will be a perfect one.”
Now, those years have gone by.I finally get a chance to sit down, look back on my life, and reflect on whether my life has been what I have expected.There have been ups and downs, twists and turns in my life.I have made mistakes and blunders during its course.There have been things that I should have done differently and better.It certainly cannot be called a perfect life of mine.But it is those ups and downs that brought me the
excitement of life, those twists and turns that injected vigor in my life, and those mistakes and blunders that gave me invaluable experience and shaped me who I am.The succe of my entrepreneurial career would not be poible without those decisions I have made.So not surprisingly, I have no regrets in my life whatsoever for the way I have lived it.I have built a busine empire that touches almost everyone’s life one way or another.The wealth I have accumulated is unthinkable to me just a couple of decades ago.I have also utilized this wealth well in returning to the society by building schools for children without proper education and paving roads to areas almost inacceible otherwise.All those were the consequence of a series of decisions I made starting fifty years ago.Fifty years ago, I was fourteen.In order to receive the high quality education, I flew half a globe away from my hometown in China to the United States and joined Cushing Academy to start my high school life.At Cushing, I started my independent life and became self-reliant.My leadership skills began to be trained at Cushing as I actively took part in the student groups and organized all kinds of activities.I also formed the habit of volunteering regularly for community services, which helped me establish the mindset of providing help to people whenever poible within my capabilities.After I graduated from Cushing Academy, I joined Purdue University that was a milestone of my life.If Cushing built the foundation of my life-long career, Purdue University solidified this foundation and turned it into one for the skyscraper.It was at Purdue that I learned the knowledge eential for my succeful entrepreneurial career.Through Purdue’s internship programs, I got trained at a couple of businees, where I practiced my academic knowledge and obtained valuable real-world experience.Purdue’s global alumni network that reached every industry and every place of the world was also a significant factor of my succe.The outline of the road to my busine succe had been shaped and drawn in the right direction with the education at Purdue University.I only needed to lay down the concrete and smooth the rough surfaces here and there.I wasn’t error free in this proce.I did make mistakes in a few company strategies.I misjudged the difficulty of several mergers and acquisitions.Some of those mistakes could have had catastrophic effect on the survival of my company.Fortunately, I was able to realize the mistakes and foresee the consequences of those poorly made decisions, thanks to the logical and discreet thinking skills I learned during my college years as well as the knowledge base I was endowed with.They helped me make informed and sound decisions most of the time.Even when the original decisions were biased because of certain circumstances, I was able to correct
them later with better information.Thus, my company managed to keep on advancing and expanding and eventually grew into a conglomerate.Compared to many other people, my career life may be considered a succeful one because I not only fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming a succeful entrepreneur but also utilized my fortune to help people.Now that I look back at what I have gone through during all those years, I feel like writing something down, telling my stories, and hoping to keep a memory.I would like to share my life and I would be grateful if my stories could inspire other people in their quest for succe.我一直认为，“从现在开始的这些年，如果我没有遗憾，当我回头看我住的生活，我的生活将是一个完美的生活。”
