Jack London was born on January 12, 1876 in California and died on Nov.22, 1916, whose life symbolized the power of will, was the most succeful writer in America in the early 20th.His family was a bankruptcy , and Jack had to leave school to make money Century。He worked hard in many different jobs.Later, Jack returned to school.But didn’t stay long.In the year 1897, he went to Alaska to find gold.Instead of getting much gold, he found ideas for his books and stories.He went back home and began to write.His writing were warmly welcomed and he became rich and famous when he was under thirty

Jack London has wrotten 19 novels, 150 short stories

and numerous articles in the literature report set, eays and papers.The more good there, “Call of the Wild”(1903), “White Teeth”(1906), “big light”(1910), “Moon Valley”(1913), “Black Mexican people”(1913), and Lenin appreciated by the “Love of Life”(1906).But by the late, he came out of social struggle, in order to meet the publishers to meet the individual needs and also wrote a lot of material comforts shoddy work.In 1916 Jack London just like Martin Eden in his masterpiece, who is the heroin his novel, and finally killed himself in the spirit of the great emptine and despair of suicide.The main contents

At the beginning of 20th century, many new writers emerged with the introduction of many new ideas.Among them, Jack London was the most popular one.His most famous novel is the call of the wild(野性的呼唤).Although it is a story about a dog, Buck, it vividly depicts the life in the primitive North where people rushed for gold and fortune.Buck, the main character, is a 140 lb Saint Bernard/Scotch Shepherd cro, which gives him the appearance of an

exceptionally large dog.Buck leads a comfortable life as the pet of Judge Miller in the Santa Clara Valley of Northern California.Judge Miller's gardener's aistant, Manuel, abducts the dog and sells him to a trainer of sled dogs, which were in great demand due to the discovery of “a yellow metal” in the frozen lands of the Yukon.Slowly introduced to the brutality of his new life, Buck is forced to survive and adapt to conditions in Alaska and the Yukon.He works pulling sleds with other dogs, learns to steal food, and engages in power struggle with other dogs for the lead position in the sled team.His owners soon learn that even though his enemy, Spitz, is “a devil,” Buck is “two devils.” He becomes the leader of the sled team after defeating Spitz in a battle.He changes hands many times before he is eventually acquired by a kind and loving owner, John Thornton.When Thornton is killed by “Yeehat” native Americans, Buck goes into a beastly rage and kills several members of the native tribe.Buck returns to the wild and becomes the alpha male of a wolf pack he met a few days before the death of Thornton.Of the world Buck enters, London writes “the salient thing of this other world seemed fear.” It is a world of dream that Buck enters, when he becomes something of a legend.Though short, it is really a thrilling story.What you never forget is the tough life in

the nature, the brave and crafty dog.Maybe the wild is calling you to go ahead.My opinion of this book

“ He sings a song of the younger world, which is the song of the pack".(Chapter VII The Sounding of the Wild).This is my favorite sentence.Every time I read it, I will be encourage by it.The friendship between Buck and its owner deeply moved and shocked me.The most deeply impreion to me in the novel is the never give up spirit of Buck to go after freedom, the pursuit of the wild, also is he looking for thefree.Besides he publicity the courage and the

confidence of the original life make he became the king of the wolves, and the strength pulled he out of the dark shadow and walk into the light of the road.Buck just a dog , he can not choose their own life the according to rules of human civilization ,but as a person we also felt the same frustration.But we should believe that all life has the right to choose and freedom to choose

obedience or rebellion , choose to proud living , select the main square whereeveryone has the egual right to

choose and freedom.No matter your chosen is right or wrong ,as long as you go on this road courage to face life and reality, not fear, not retreat, always created the miracle of life.
