Recently I read Anna Karenina which is written by the famous Ruian writer Leo Tolstoy, and I found that it was really a novel worthwhile to read and enjoy.“All happy families are alike, but an unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” This is the first sentence of the novel.The novel centers around two relationships;the dark, violent love of Anna and Vronsky, which is contrasted with the happy, light-filled relationship of Kitty and Levin.Anna Karenina was descendant of royal family and her husband was Alexei Karenina who had an important position in the ministry.She was asked to go to Moscow to mediate the disputes between her brother Oblonsky and his wife Dolly.She met Vronsky who was an officer at the station.Vronsky noticed the charming woman and was appealed by her deeply.At the same time, Levin was coming to Moscow to propose to Kitty who was obseed with Vronsky.Kitty refused him but Vronsky couldn’t keep attention to Kitty after the contact with Anna.Anna and Vronsky met several times in Moscow at parties.After a few days, Anna boarded on the train to St.Petersburg.She found that she couldn’t dismi Vronsky easily form her mind.Then she went out for fresh air and she found that Vronsky was on the train too.She was both excited and frustrated.After all, she was a married woman.In Petersburg, Anna and Vronsky met regularly at social parties.At a banquet, Vronsky expreed his crazy love to Anna.And then they fell in love with each other.Unfortunately, the disgraceful relationship between them was exposed in a horse-racing.When Vronsky fell from the horse, Anna was completely out of control.On her way home, her husband Alexei prohibited her to receive Vronsky at home.Levin worked together with farmers and was yearning to live a life as simple as farmers.But the news Kitty who had went abroad for illne was about to come back inspired his love for her.He proposed to Kitty again and finally they got married.They lived a happy and sweet life.Anna was becoming worse because she had been pregnant, and she was threatened by death when she was giving birth to the baby.At that time she got her husband’s forgivene, but when she recovered form the illne she found that she can’t continue to live with Alexei.She went abroad with Vronsky and they spent three months together living a happy life.When they return to Petersburg, Anna was always miing her son, Seriozha.On her son’s birthday, she crashed into the house she had lived for nine years.She was so excited to see Seriozha but she was forced to leave.At that time, she knew that she had lost her son forever.Without the permiion of divorce, the combination between Anna and Vronsky was not accepted by the society.Vronsky began to be boring with the situation.He closed the door for her to high society so Anna could only stay at Vronsky’s estate.She was filled with despair.After a quarrel with Vronsky, she followed him to the station.And then she remembered the scene they met first time when a man was died under the train.It seemed to suggest that her destination was there.She threw herself to the coming train and the flame of life died out!
Anna Karenina was a brave woman who dared to pursue her love though it was against the moral.When she found that Vronsky started to be cold to her and she couldn’t see her son any more, she was so desperate that she decided to end her desperate love and life.She undertook the result of the love that is against the society moral.I really admire her and feel pity for her!
