L:why you start with physiology study and turn to neurophysiology study?
F: as a jew, medical science is one of the options can choose.once I listen to Goethe’s prose about how beautiful the nature are ,I make up my mind to become a doctor.psychiatrist Charcot has great influence on me ,and that force me toturn to neurophysiology study.but the interest on neurophysiology start the cooperation with J.Bernheim in 1884.L:wa,there are many great person, and you work together make great idea and research and theory.the idea of the conscious versus unconscious mind, The id, the ego, and the superego,but I interested more onife instincts and the death instinct.F:what you interest more are remind controversial.i think all the conflicts of human being drived by two desires :love drive and death drive.all human behavior as motivated by the drives or instincts, which in turn are the neurological representations of physical needs.At first, I refer to them as the life instincts.These instincts perpetuate the life of the individual, by motivating him or her to seek food and water, and the life of the species, by motivating him or her to have sex.The motivational energy of these life instincts, the “oomph” that powers our psyches, he called libido, from the Latin word for “I desire.”
L:the instinct can be found in history and ourselves, tribe’s worship of totem and the pursuit of taboo.a boy can find the love to his mother and jealousy to father,even he donn‘t admit.F:exactly
