The Global food security has serious consequences.It will not only pose a negative impact on commercial relations, but
equally on social and it is high time we delegates here discued solutions to it.The Portuguese agricultural industry has very strong competition abilities, thus still faced with many difficuties.So Portugal’s international position is to alleviate the global food crisis and to contribute to the rational allocation of food with the support of the international institutions and relevant European efforts, hoping to make the food distribution worldwide more fair.Portugal will always be ready to make contributions to solving global food crisis.In response to this crisis, the international community has conducted a series of activities.The UN Food and Agriculture Organization held a high level meeting on global food security in Rome.The UN has established a “global food crisis working group” to cope with emergencies resulting from the crisis.The FAO has also launched an emergency initiative, providing the low-income food-deficit countries with seeds and other means of production.The World Bank is also considering building a global food crisis response mechanism.As a country heavily dependent on imports of food consumption, Portugal has taken a series of measures to deal with the world food crisis.Firstly, in order to expand grain production, we have been conducting food production in lands.Secondly, Portuguese government offers export subsidies and other state subsidies to agriculture.Finally, the Portugal actively appealed and promoted the succeful conclusion of the international negotiations, thus helping to solve the Global Food Shortage fundamentally.In the future, Portugal will still join hands with the rest of the world to struggle to solve the Global Food Crisis.Specific measures are as follows: first, we will further implement.Second, Portugal will develop more advanced agricultural production technology, raising efficiency of agricultural production;Third, Portugal will construct our level of farmland protection mechanism for safe production, perfect commiariat legal system to ensure more smooth grain production.In short, Portugal will spare no efforts to prevent and deal with the Global Food Security, as it did in the past decades, to make tomorrow a better day for people in Portugal and the world at large!
