Good Evening,Ladies and Gentlemen!Today, it’s my honor to stand here to give you a speech about cultural diversity and cultural integration.First, I like to drink Coca-Cola, and almost every two days I would drink a bottle of 500 milliliters.Just as most American families cannot live long without Chinese products, I also have a sense of dependence on Coca-Cole.Besides, my major is Japanese and I have learned Japanese for more than one year.So, I’ve been influenced by the Japanese culture.For example, when I am talking with other people I always want to nod to agree with other people, even though it is a unique Japanese way of communication.On the other hand, you must be proud that Chinese Kung Fu and Chinese diets are spreading in the whole world because of the Hollywood movie “Kung Fu Panda”.New York City even declared the Spring Festival as a public holiday.With the fast development of globalization, not only products but even language, literature and ideas all over the world are becoming more and more integrative.As we all know, every country has its own cultural attractions.Let me share with you one example, when I first started learning English, my teacher told me that in the UK, the weather is often talked about when people meet, however, the Chinese people always
ask each other “ Have you eaten your meal?” or “ Where are you going?” They are very different.In the UK people consider personal privacy very important, but it is stiff and distant for Chinese people.So western people think there’re very delicate relationships between people in China.How interesting!Just as everyone has his own personality, and it is inevitable that different nations have different cultures.If we don’t want to lose ourselves in the tide of globalization, we should keep our own culture.During the proce I am not meaning we should reject different cultures, although it has collision with different cultures, and we can also enjoy the amazement and pleasure from other cultures.Around the world, in the broader context of cultural convergence, China has a long history of 5000 years.We enjoy the benefits from the cultural integration regardle of past or future.Atthe same time, we should keep the best part of our culture.We should learn positive cultures selectively and abandon negative cultures so that our culture can develop better and better.Only we use correct and moderate attitude to receive other cultures so that cultural integration and cultural diversity can achieve a balance.Thank you very much!
