Charles Dickens is an outstanding English writer in 19th century.He lived in Britain from the semi-feudal society to industrial capitalism transition period，so in the early time，his most works describe children’s unfortunate lives and revealed charitable institutions and school education’s crime.His works revealed and criticized the capitalist cla’s greedy, cruel governance.His works describe every aspects of social life of this period.Body:
Dickens is the representative novelist of realistic literature in 19th century.Realism reflects real life.It is objective and it advocate observing real life objectively and always keeping a calm attitude.Persons in the novels are all very similar to the persons in the real life.Dickens’ works are full of humorous.His works analyses persons in details.Besides，His literary style is also a mixture of fantasy and realism.Introduction：
This fictional story happened during the Great French Revolution around the Manette family and the two cities are London and Paris.Doctor Manettte had been in prison for 18 years just because he wanted to disclose Evermondes’ crimes.Marquis of Evermonde, a noble man in France, stole a countrywoman with his brother by force and killed her family.Doctor Manette came to know all their crimes by accident.In order to hide their crimes, they threw Manette into Bastille.During these 18 years, Doctor Manette lost is freedom completely and suffered a lot in spirit.He was taken care of by Monsieur Defarge, his maid, before his daughter found her.Then she took him to London.His daughter took good care of him and helped him return to normal.They came to know Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay, both of whom fell in love with Lucie later, during a court.Sydney expreed his love to Mi Lucie, promising that he would do everything for her happine.However, he didn’t mean to marry Lucie since he thought he was not a proper man for Lucie.Meanwhile, Lucie and
Darnay fell in love with each other.Doctor Manette accepted his son-in-law although he knew that Darnay was the nephew of the man who threw him into prison.One day, Darnay had to return to Paris to rescue his uncle’s chamberlain who had been taking care of property for Darnay.Before Darnay set off, Mr.Lorry went to Paris to deal with something for Tellson’s Bank at the age of 78 years old.Unfortuntely, Darnay was arrested and put into prison.Lucie got the news and went to Paris with his father immediately.Luckily, Doctor Manette had been in Bastille for a long time, so Paris citizen respected Doctor Manette so much after they knew his experience.At last, Darnay got out of prison.However, Darnay was taken away again the next morning.In fact, Madame Defarge was the sister of the woman who was killed by Marquis of
Evermonde.She had the obligation to take revenge on everyone from Evermonde family.Lucie, as his wife, was in a deep sadne.Old Lorry also felt anxious.Then it was the time for Sydney Carton to do something.Carton sacrificed his life for Lucie’s happine.He fulfilled his promise.He got into the prison and Darnay was taken out of there instead.The Manette family managed to return to London.Carton, left in Paris, was killed to the face of thousands of people.Analysis of Sydney carton:
Sydney carton, a hero, a touching character.He has a same appearance with
Darnay but completely different fate.He loved Lucie but he was afraid to disturb her life.He sacrifice his life to make Lucie get happine.Conclusion:
In this work, we can not only see a story about a family, a touching love story, but also the situation of the whole society at that time.Just as the novel described at the beginning,“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

sacrifice of that time.Dickens has distinct love and hate.He praised those who ought to be praised and attacked those who ought to be attacked.
