My name is Suweiquan ,I major in political theory at school of international studies.Today, I will say something about “Arab Spring”.So, what is The “Arab Spring”?
Well, The “Arab Spring”, is also called Arab awakening, or Arabic Uprising, refers to the social movement happened in some Arab countries of north Africa and west Asia and other regions since the end of last year, the Arab expre their declares on “democracy” and “economic” by different ways especially demonstrations and network communications, it attracted the attention of the world for its deep and extent influence.At present, the movement has not yet given a full stop.A Self-Burning incident happened on December 17 in Tunisia can be seen as primacord of the “Arab spring.” The day , a 26-year-old young man named Mohamed Bouazizi expreed his angry by self-burning, he couldn't find a job under the context of the economic depreion , he had to make living by saling something as a hawker, however, he suffered much unjust treatment from the police so that he finally choose the self-burning to protest the unjust society.His death aroused the sympathy of other Tunisian and their complaints on high unemployment rate, on the rising price and on the corruption of government officials.They decide to take actions.So, conflicts appeared between the local residents and nation al guard.Then the conflicts spread to the whole country.The ma required the president Ben Ali, who has governed Tunisia for 23 years, to step down.On January 14 this year, Ben Ali escaped from Tunisia to Saudi Arabia.The ma of Tunisia get the victory.Tunisia became the beginning place of the “Arab spring”.Jasmine is the nation al flower in Tunisia, so the change happened in this country's regime is also called “Jasmine revolution ”.The victory in Tunisia inspired the protest movement in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Omen, Yemen, Jordon and other countries, and gradually the social movement swept acro the Arab world.The former Political powerful men step down just like domino.But what we need notice is that some monarchy country suffered le influence.Now, I will give an important introduce about Libya, a country have been governed by Gaddafi for 40 years.After the Tunisia and Egypt, an anti-government movement broke out in Libya.On February 15, Libya outbreak first large-scale protest against Gaddafi regime, eventually the protest evolved into violence between the ma and the government army.Then the protest wave flood into the whole country.On February 20, the opposition occupied some city include Benghazi and Tobuluk, Libya began to appear the dividing line between the political situation.On March 17, the United Nations Security Council paed a resolution for setting up the no-fly zones in Libya.Gaddafi’s air force was wiped out in a short time.On July 15, America and other members of NATO admit the regime of the opposition, the Libya National Transition Committee On august 23, the Libya National Transition Committee controls Tripoli, the capital of Libya.On the same day, the Egypt government announced its recognition of the opposition regime.On October 20, the Libya ruling authority troops occupied Sirte, the Gaddafi's hometown, Gaddafi was captured and killed.On October 31, the NATO announced they would end the military actions in Libya.On November 22, Libya exceive government was established in Tripoli.I don’t know what the future of Libya will be like, but I will continue playing close attention to it.Now, maybe you are thinking, why the “Arab spring” happen? Well, I think there are 3 reasons can be used to explain this question.Firstly, the people of these countries are abhorrent of the long-term dictatorship, they are eager for freedom, equation, democracy and justice.Secondly, foreign forces intervenes the Middle East and North Africa affairs;European countries and America have been chasing this treasured place for a long time.Thirdly, it is relevant to the economic crisis, the domestic high unemployment rate, the people live a rough life.Fourthly, the Middle East area is full of conflicts among different religions or different schools of the same religion.Then, what the Arab spring brings to us? I think there are 3 revelations can be seen at least.Fist, we must do our best to reform our political and economic systems to make our people really feel rule of law, democracy and freedom, and to make our people live a nice life.As Dengxiaoping said,“ don't reform, just one way to die”.Second, we must do our best to correctly deal with ethic and religious iues so that we can use the strong power to make a beautiful life.last, we must do our best to strengthen the hard power and soft power of our country, and to protect our nation al interest.That's all ,thank you ~~
