I want to give a general content about the book the Secret Garden.The main character named Mary Lennox who is a selfish and disgust girl, all of the servants said she was the most disagreeable-looking child ever seen.When she was six, she was as tyrannical and selfish a little pig as ever lived.At least ,she was a terrible bully before she was nine.But everything had changed in a morning at the age of nine.The cholera killed all the people in her family.Now ,she became an orphan and had to be sent to her uncle’s home in British.It deserve to be mentioned that she was born in India and her father had held a position under the English Government there.She did not cry because she wasn’t an affectionate child and had never cared much for anyone.Her father had always been busy and ill himself.her mother had been a great beauty who care only to go to parties and amuse herself with people.when Mary was born she handed her over to the care of an Ayah.So this helps us to explain Mary’s reaction after hearing the grievous news.Her uncle , Mr.Craven, was a strange man.When she arrived here ,nobody cared her except sufficient food and clothes.At first, she was still arrogant as before.But lately, she found there was a secret garden which had been hidden for ten years.She was very curious about it and managed to find it.In this proce, she became optimistic , kind and fond of the nature, which made more and more people liked her.Playing with the tenant’s son Dickon in tne garden who was a kind ,brave and amazing boy, there was a boy joining them.It was Colin Craven, Mary’s cousin that was diocial and lonely.He had a bad temper like a young rajah, he always said he would die in one day and be rude to the servants.Mary tried to make him happy and play with him in the garden.All of them loved the garden.They became best friends and Colin gradually recovered.And he got his father Mr.Craven’s admiion, because his mother died when he was born and his father wretched to look at him.He wanted to show his health to his father.Finally he did it.Mary and Colin rebuild their characters by transforming the surroundings.The book show us that how people’s attitudes decide their whole life.Life can be a comedy or tragedy, the key is our attitudes.If you have an optimistic attitude, you’ll be happier.
