“Measurement & Control Technology and Instruments” is the unique major of instrument science and technology in our country.Instrument and meter is an eential part of IT industry.Instrument and meter technology is a comprehensive subject which is based on mechanics, computer science and information technology.And it shows greater and greater power in the development of national economy, national defense and everyday life.The department of Information Detective Technology and Instrument(IDTI)of Shanghai Jiaotong University was found in Dec.1975, and have a relatively long history.After the subject adjustment in 1997,the name of this major was been standardized as “Detective Control Technology and Instrument”.And it belongs to the school of electronic and information.Now the department of IDTI recruits three claes each year and the students will have four years course before they gaining bachelor degree.Now the department of IDTI offers three master degrees--precise instrument and mechanics, navigation technology, measurement technology and instrument and one PhD.The department has established good relationship with several universities in China and abroad also, which offered a good environment for the students to take a more advanced study.By integrating advantage of mechanics, electronics and computer technology, the department of IDTI undertaken a lot of high technology projects and projects that served national economy directly, and gained much benefit on economic and social aspects, and fruits in teaching and research also.Now the main direction of research contains: industrial automate detective devices, advanced online detective technology, data proce and
software research, intelligent instrument, new sensor and sensor technology, micro-mechanics and robotics, navigation system, automation technology and its application, GPS technology and its application and micro-computer technology.The knowledge of the IDTI bases on four aspects: precise mechanics, electronic technology, signal proce and computer science.The main courses are: precise mechanics, electrical engineering, electronic technology fundamental, automate control theory, microcomputer and its application, sensor, intelligent instrument and several course designs.The main goal of the department is training advanced engineers who have good abilities of developing and researching technology about information proce, industrial detective, proce control, microcomputer measurement and control in the area of information detective and automate control.The graduates have good abilities on information proce, microcomputer application and English.Also they have high qualities of social science and humanities.The graduates of IDTI are qualified to deal with design, developing and research in high technology industry, research organization and universities.Not only can they become the main tray power, but also they could become good mangers that have great abilities on system integration, organization management, and high spirit in creativity and cooperation.In recent years the graduates of IDTI are mainly working in research organization, state-owned enterprises and foreign capital companies.Most of them are engaged in designing, researching and developing electronic technology, computer hardware/software, intelligent instruments, and automation and communication technology.
