In what way did Puritanism influence American culture?

Puritans, the Pilgrim Fathers, took the ship Mayflower and left Holland for North America in 1620, they signed Mayflower compact for the future civil government of their colony before they landed on New England and established puritan colonies there.Puritanism in New England changed gradually due to the frontier environment and the mobility of the population. As time went on, many of the new generations no longer adhered to the orthodox Puritanism. Many moved to the West and other parts of the United States.Today, puritans are no longer in existence. But their legacies are still felt in American culture. The puritans hoped to build “a city upon hill”—an ideal community.Since that time, Americans have viewed their country as a great experiment, a worthy model for other nations. This sense of miion has been very strong in the minds of many Americans.New England also established another American tradition—as train of often intolerant moralism. The Puritans believed that governments should enforce God’s morality. They strictly punished drunks, adulterers, violators of the Sabbath and other religious believers different from themselves.(Roger Williams, driven out of Maachusetts, set up Rhode Island in 1635, religious freedom & separation of state and religion.)

The Puritans also have left rich cultural heritage to future Americans. The American values such as individualism, hard work, and respect of education owe every much to the Puritan beliefs. What is a federal system? What are some of the major differences between a federal system and a confederation?

A federal system is one in which power is shared between the central authority and the constituent parts, with some rights reserved to each other. After the War of Independence was won, the new nation of the US was organized under the agreement of Articles of Confederation with a weak national government called the Congre. Each state had its own government, made its own laws and handled its own internal affairs. The states did not cooperate with the Congre or with each other. The Congre had no power to force any state to contribute money to the national government and the Congre could not tax any citizen either. The Articles of Confederation failed and constitutional convention was held to revise it.a

new constitution was written and federal system was set with a strong central government. In short, the membership of the member states in a confederation is voluntary, while the membership in a federation is not.In a confederation(1)No real direct powers: many confederal decisions are externalised by member-state legislation.(2)Decisions on day-to-day-matters are not taken by simple majority but by special majorities or even by consensus or unanimity(veto for every member).(3)Changes of the constitution, usually a treaty, require unanimity. It is known to all that buying and selling stocks is a risky biz.Why do you think there are still so many people involved in it?

In general, individual stocks are rather low-priced, and many working Americans buy stocks in order to make a profit. When people buy stock, they become part owner of the company. If the company makes a profit, they receive a share of it.Corporations selling stocks and shares are limited liabilities, so investors risked only the amount of their investment and not their entire aets.Individuals starts enterprises with capital, money borrowed from others, and share the profit gained with those investors. When they want to expand the biz, they again borrow money.People in the US saw that they could make money by lending money to those who wanted to start or to expand a biz. That led to creation of an important part of current economic scene: the selling of stock, or share, in a biz.Americans have poeed to an unusual degree the entrepreneurial spirit that finds its outlet in such biz activities as buying and selling.(Puritan ethic, Protestant ethic)
