A Book Report of1587A Year of No Significance
Ray huang, the author of the book,Chinese americian, was born in 1918 and died on January8 ,2000.He Originally come from ChangSha city of HuNan province.In the early years，he devoted himself to studying and joining the army.Then in 1950,he studied history at the university of Michigan in the United States.Finally,he got the doctor of history in 1964.He had many succees in history, especially about the history of the Ming dynasty.He is famious for his macro-history and claims that people should view history from a moral perspective.《1587； A Year of No Significance》,the author took seven years to finish it,first published in 1982 by theSanlian Bookstore in China.This book is aresearch monographof the Mingdynasty.The book is mainly about some small historical events and some historical personages in the Wanli period of the Ming dynasty.This year,1587,may easily be ignored by most historian,beacause this is a common year in the history.However,in the Ray huang’soppnion,these events has the ins and outs also is the key point of history.In the book ,this eventsmeanthe dynasty's decline.The author independently describe those historical events no matterthe order of time.It is this narrative that make reader feel interested when in reading.I finished the book last term.On the one hand,as far as I am concerned, Ihad acquired a completely new outlook since finished it.In other words,what is surprising is that the histoty can be writed by this way.Ittotally doesn't make a person feel very boring.On the other hand,the book would produce a rewarding and lastingimpreion on the readers after finished it,that’s to say,it is worthy of thinking deeplyin many places.last but not least,the book has tremendous contribution on the historical research method。Macro-historyproposed by the book’s authorhave a great impactat home and abroad.Inaddition ,I think the book won great succe because of a very thorough analysis on an event and rigorous logical structure.All in all,this book is a book which has great influence,I like it very much.15工程李梦杰，***5，周二（3-4）节
