To be honest, The Secret Garden is the first children’s literature in English I had read.I love children’s literature very much, even now, I read Andersen’s fairytales when I’m free.The author tells us a fantastic story, a little girl named Mary is sent to England from India after her parents died, in fact , nobody likes her included her parents.When she lives in her uncle’s house, she feels bored, cheesed and lonely, she has nothing to do.However, Mary hears of something about the secret garden accidently, then she find the garden though the robin and makes friends with a boy named Dickon.With the help of the garden and Dickon, Mary becomes kind and finally, they help Colin stand up.Different from reading fairytales when I was little, I will think the feeling and spirit the author wants to expre.I like this story, even though I didn’t realized the spirit of loving nature before teacher said, I feel and think so much about those characters, and then, I get a conclusion----everyone has a secret garden.I want to explain it from my favorite character Mary.I like the girl because she is real.Maybe she isn’t a lovely one at first, but it’s not her fault, her parents’ neglect causes it, a child who has never experience love from parent won’t be expected to be kind.I think her secret garden is a home in which everyone she loves live together with her, she is liked by all of them, and she won’t be alone and has a happy life.Just because she has this kind of wish, she changes herself as soon as she contact to a good surroundings.“Her father had always been busy and ill himself, and her mother cared only to go to parties and amuse herself with gay people.” She must be lonely, so she is willing to do something great to communicate with others and offer help for the need of accompanying when she have chance.She becomes friendly and usually laughs, she begins to understand love.The girl’s change is like a flower blooming, which makes me obseed.As for Colin, I don’t like the little boy actually, because I can’t understand some behaviors and thought of him.For example, I can’t understand why he is sure that he can’t walk and always show his bored by crying.On the other hand, I sympathize him very much, he have a terrible father who puts the blame that his mother died in child birth on him.He says that he doesn’t want to go out and “sometimes when I open my eyes I don’t believe I’m awake.” These all make me sad, certainly, no children doesn’t want to play outside, he is eager but he fears other’s words and attitude.He chooses to lock himself in room.Colin’s secret garden seems impoible, he want to be spoiled by his father and be like a normal kid.From another aspect, he is lucky because he meet Mary, a Mary has changed.She led him to touch a different world and with the push of his secret garden, he succeeds eventually in defeat himself.The secret garden locates in Colin’s father’ heart also plays a part in saving the man from a long time suffering.The secret garden is love for his wife, he is not dislike his child but once he sees him, he will remember his wife, he does want to be together with his beautiful boy, so he usually to see him after he has been asleep.What makes me happy is that he finally overcomes it.I prefer to own it to the effect of his secret garden.It’s a sweet story in my eyes even though there is no romantic plot, it makes me smile for these children change to angels who are so kind and lovely and the happy ending that everyone gets welfare.I think all of these miracles are from the power of secret garden.The secret garden means every great wish in our heart, once we get the key, such as good surrounding, kind people, even just some suitable words and so on, the power of secret garden will work, and led you go in right direction like these characters in the book.Actually, everyone has a secret garden in heart.Ask your heart seriously, and you will found that it is always here but you don’t realize.Maybe it’s some wishes seemed impoible like Colin’s, but never give them up, you needn’t tell others about it if you aren’t willing, just keep them in your heart, and someday when you find the key you can open it and get the treasure.So, put your wishes in your secret garden and go without any fear just follow the feeling your garden gives you, I believe it can push you into a proper position.Everyone has secret garden, and everyone should have a secret garden, it can turn a bad person into a good one and a good one will become better.Fortunately, I own my secret garden and I have realized its existence.I hope you are lucky as me.
