Hello, everyone, my name is ***, and today, it’s a great honor for me to present cro-culture information.As we all know, a country and its unique culture is inseparable.So, many differences exist between different cultures.Take Chinese and the westerners for example.When making contacts, Chinese often use high context, while the westerners tend to use low context.Besides this, Chinese prefer using indirect words while communication.And all these differences are caused by culture.While the human nature is the core of culture, so, if we really want to understand the different cultures, we should know the differences of human nature.And that is what I really want to talk about--human nature.First, what is human nature? Human nature is in certain social system and certain historical condition of the formation of human nature.Now, let’s see some pictures first.(放图片)These pictures talks about a famous Bible story of Adam and Eva.God throws them out of the Garden of Eden because they ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge.So, according to Christian teaching, all humans have been born with original sin.To sum up , there are seven deadly sins in western history.Nowadays, westerners who follow the Bible as a guide to daily life still believe that humans are basically evil and must be saved.In many western countries, there exits a unique ceremony-----Baptized ceremony(受洗仪式)。Parents will hold a baptized ceremony in the church for their newborn baby to pray for a better life in the future.As far as they concerned, all the infants
are born controlled by desires, and only when they accepted god will they become good as they grow up.Above all, the traditional Westerner belief about human nature is that humans are basically evil.However, when comes to the human nature in China, we have to mention a famous people------Confucius.As we said, children are believed to be pure and innocent but may become corrupt as they grow older and have more contact with society.Mencius’ mother totally understand the effect of circumstances, so she moves her home three times to better her son’s education.We still remember the WenChuan earthquake in 2008 and lots of moving moments still often emerged in our minds.(放图片)From these pictures, it is obvious that people's nature is good, especially when in trouble.So, in Confucian cultures people are believed to be basically good.If China has what some experts call a shame culture, then the west is dominated by guilty culture.In guilty cultures, the person is expected to know the difference between right and wrong and to feel guilty if he or she does or even thinks something wrong, whether or not anyone knows about it.In shame cultures, the good is an idea everyone hopes to realize but may not be poible to achieve in every situation.I’ll use an example to explain it.In china，if a student was caught cheating, he may feel ashamed, but not feel guilty.But in the west, the student who was charged of cheating always feels guilty.But why such a difference exists? Chinese
think we are born good, and in any circumstances should we blame society.So while we were caught cheating, we always feel ashamed, and will never think we have bad nature.However, the westerners think they are born evil, and only if they never do anything wrong will they become good.So, they will feel guilty of their inappropriate behavior.That's all, Thank you for your listening.
