On the eve of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi, I join the InternationalOlympic Committee in calling on all those engaged in armed hostilities around the world to laydown their weapons and observe the Olympic Truce.在索契冬季奥运会和残奥会前夕，我和国际奥林匹克委员会一道，呼吁世界各地武装敌对行动的参与方放下武器，遵守奥林匹克休战。

Sport is an eential form of human expreion, which can enhance human dignity and strengthen societies as a whole.This is why sport is so important for UNESCO’s work to build peace and to lay the foundations for sustainable development.体育是一种基本的人类表现形式，可以增进人的尊严，巩固整个社会。正因为如此，体育对于教科文组织建设和平、为可持续发展奠定基础的工作十分重要。
