A Book Report of English teaching Methodology By Yang Min, Cla2, 2010

I have recently read the simplified version of English Teaching Methodology published by Higher Education Pre.This book was written by Hu Chundong, the pioneer of foreign languages teaching and research.What’s more, Profeor Hu always went deep into the front-line of foundation education and helped teachers to develop the teaching and the scientific research work.Therefore, the book of English teaching Methodology is the results of his foreign language teaching practice.The most important topic of this book is only the form and content of language bond and human nature bond have organic couple, ability really learns a language well and truly enters the deep language learning.Profeor Hu devoted himself to let students experience the wisdom and aesthetic feeling of language teaching power.The main ideas of the book are as follows.Firstly, we should learn to combine the instructional theory with practice.English Teachers should guide students to relate to their own experiences and background knowledge in teaching proce.Thus, Students are able to study effectively, to experience learning progre, and to gain learning pleasure.Secondly, we should organically combine the development of the students' intelligence factors and emotional factors in English teaching.English teaching is not only the physical action, but it should be mental action, the latter including cultivating language awarene, the relation between both is supplement each other, they cannot be separated.Thirdly, in the proce of English teaching, teachers ought to reasonably utilize and proactively develop curriculum resources for providing students with practical, realistic and healthy curriculum resources.Through the teaching, students already have a certain language and reading ability.Teachers ought to intentionally lead the students to get rid of artificial language style blanks and reading comprehension exercises, and to enter the claic literature reading proce, like Gone with the Wind, Jaws, The Bridges Of Madison County and so on.Fourthly, we should try our best to arouse the students’ emotional resonance in the English learning proce.In my opinion, English learning can be summarized as two points: First of all, English learners have to learn grammar, because grammar embodies the rule of internal linguistic development, and the rule of language learning highlights the importance of students’ intelligence in the learning proce.Second, English learners must learn literature, because literary incarnates human emotions and the beauty of humanity.English teachers should let their students realize the intellectual charm of language learning in English teaching proce, also they can taste the aesthetic power of language.For this reason, they will have interest in their study.In a word, I appreciate this book.I’d like to recommend it to learners at my level.It is not too difficult, so we can get the ideas easily and learn something about the author’s English teaching skills at the same time.It is really worth reading.
