Abstract
Hamlet is one of the most problematic works in the field of literature.As a profound tragedy, it is renowned for its title character’s complicated character as a member of a jumped-up trend—humanism.In our Chinese novel, lots of characters will take revenge immediately, if there is some kill their relatives, such as Wu Song in Water Margin takes revenge without the least hesitation, such as Gongmei Jianchi in Zhujian1.Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, suffered a lot in a short time.His father died without expectation.His mother married his uncle soon after his father’s death.How sad he is at that time!However, Hamlet is unable to make up his mind, he lost in “to be, or not to be”, when his father tells him the true.In this thesis, I would like to introduce the reasons why Hamlet doesn’t take revenge immediately from several different aspects.Key words

From humanism
First I think Hamlet’s hesitation is related with his humanism.As a prince he goes abroad to study, he receives lots of humanism thoughts.He believes that the word is great, the human is beauty.He says:
That a piece of work is man!How noble in reason!How infinite in faculty!In form, in moving how expre and admirable!In form, in moving how expre and admirable!In action how like an angle!In apprehension how like a god!The beauty of the world!The paragon of animal!And yet, to me, what is this quinteence of dust? Man delights not me;no, nor woman neither, though, by your smiling, you seem to say so.As we can see, in fact this is the inner conflict of his humanism and the cruel and real fact.The humanism calls for human efforts towards morality prevail over the forces of god,calls for humanity towards morality prevail over the godship.They advocate human central instead of god central.They argue against the theocracy and god ship, 1魯迅筆下《鑄劍》的主人公眉間尺,當從母親口中得知父親的死因,決絕地背起寶劍踏上複仇之路。而當獨自報仇失利之後,黑色人告訴他報仇已然無望,更不利的是他的生命也會有危險。此刻,眉間尺表現的比之前更果敢更有勇氣,毅然交出自己的性命和寶劍,不惜一切代價只為了替父報仇。
and give publicity to human rights and humanity.They admire love and happine.They think highly of knowledge and equality.So dose Hamlet, even he want to go back to continue further study.But the real society is cruel, as humanistic prince, when hear the truth of his father’s death, in his heart he would rather hope all the things are not true.So he hesitates, when confronts the cruel and humanity.From social state
There is another aspect we can’t overlook that is Hamlet is a prince and the one he has to confront with is the king of a kingdom.Thought, he says:
The time is out of joint;o cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right!
So many people put so much effort into doing thing that are not worthwhile.It's a bad
world, and I am far from a perfect human being.And we will all dead in the end.But I am going to do something worthwhile, and do it right
Their lives are related closely with the fate of the kingdom.As a prince of a country, he has duty to his people;his revenge may cause political instability and violence.So he hesitates, even he promise to take revenge.From position of strength
Now suppose, Hamlet takes revenge immediately, how can he kill a king? The one he wants to kill is a king, who kills the former powerful old Hamlet and comes to power stably.Thus it can be seen, the man is a very cruel and sly old fox.What’s more his own armed forces.And as a king, he even has power to give a false account of the true fact.On the contrary, Hamlet is a broken down monarch.In some way, he is a prince in name only, he is virtually impotent against the one who is giving him state as a prince and also can kill him right away with indescribable excuse.So no matter whether he wants to take revenge or not, he has to think about it clearly.So he has to hesitate.From ghost can be trust or not?
In this part, let’s think about the ghost.First, as we has mentioned, the humanism advocates human central instead of god central.They argue against the theocracy and god ship, and give publicity to human rights and humanity.Even god can be against, can a ghost can be trust? And all the thing the ghost says is one sided account.What’s more, there is no witne,and the accuse seems absurd.How can some one be so cruel that kill his brother? And Hamlet did see the proce by his own eyes.Can Hamlet totally believe the ghost? Second, even nowadays, the adventure science can’t prove the existence of ghost, can Hamlet believe it? He thinks,To die: to sleep;To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub: for in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause.From this inner soliloquy, we can see he thinks in the dream there is ghost, so he doesn’t not firmly believe the ghost exists in truly life, so it is moral to think about what the ghost has said.The promise to ghost doesn’t come to putting it into practice is understandable.Conclusion
All in all, there is no pure reason can lead Hamlet’s hesitation.There can be
humanism, social state, position of strength,even it can be Jones’ Oedipus Compels or just like Turgenev thinks that it is the ugly humanity.With further sight upon the burdens of his life, we see that these strong emotions are well justified, no matter how extreme they may seem.附录

Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;And thus the native hue of resolution is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought, and enterprises of great pith and moment with this regard their currents turn awry, and lose the name of action
