—The impreion of Great Expectation
Although I have seen the film of Great Expectation when I was a junior school student, I am still enjoying in reading the book Great Expectation.The book I read this time was taken from bookworm, which was written by Charles Dickens, changed by Clare West and translated by Zhen Penmin.It was published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Pre.Undoubtedly, Pip is the protagonist of the book, but what impreed me most is Joe and the constantly changing affection between him and Pip.There is obviously a changing proce of the Pip’s attitude to Joe.In the fore-several chapters, I generally know a simple and happy family.In the family, there are Pip, his sister, who had brought him up ―by hand‖, and Joe, the village blacksmith.They didn’t have much money, and Pip never went to school to study.But he was very happy, this is their lives.I must say the dialogue in the third chapter really touched me.Joe said: ―Always the best of friends, you and me!‖ After reading that, I really agree Biddy’s word that he is such a good man.At that time, though not educated, Pip loved Joe;though poor, they were happy.However, Pip’s great expectation changed him and destroyed him to some degree.Yes, he became a gentleman, but he started to despise his poor friends.He even feel ashamed because he had lived with the poor man –Joe.He would rather pay him money to keep him away.People always like to compare with their friends.It is a big foible of all the people.If other people have a lot of money, we also want to be rich.If all the people around us are poor, we never mind that we are poor too.In the end, I want to say a truly friend is valuable and it is our honor to get them, so please treasure them no matter they are rich or poor.
